TGIF!!! As part of our Summer Funday Friday Reading List we had to include an oldie but such a goodie, The Gifts of Imperfection by none other than Brené Brown. I led a reading club a couple of years ago where this helped many of us get the breakthroughs we needed in seeing our imperfections not as weaknesses, but as something to embrace in the process of cultivating our joy 🙌🏾🙌🏾 “Worthiness doesn’t have prerequisites.” -The Gifts of Imperfection. What better time than now to get completely vulnerable so we can fully operate from a place of worthiness and compassion. This book has remained a vital read for anyone looking to receive practical tools for “soul” care. Drop a comment below...let me know what you think 🤔 #waitinginheels #brenebrownquotes #summerreading #iamworthy #theartofimperfection #getstill #singlelifechronicles #cultivatingjoy

As you've likely seen, I take my magickal practices very seriously. And I'm delighted when others get invested in those magickal practices too! My Crystal journey started as a kid since I was always attracted to shiny and flashy things... queue in geodes here. As I've gotten older my collection as extended based on my lust for the visual of the gems AND also developing an awareness of the energies inside of each gem and how that can aid my mind, body, spirit. This road trip out west I've curated some crystal kits for friends and clients - these are some of my fav stones I've gathered on the way! Enjoy! With love and light and some gold pyrite. 💛⚡️🌕 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Interested in receiving this pdf? Check out the link in my bio to sign up for content on simple ways to cultivate joy in your daily life.

Pink Clover in the meadows, a real delight #thesimplethings . . Today I watched a video by @chris .packham on plans for HS2 to go to court. I sincerely hope HS2 gets stopped, for many reasons, Good luck Chris! . . With my time off things have been rumbling, in a good way. Our world is changing fast, I’m not fear mongering when saying that, more I see the power of good having opportunities to arise amongst these times. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #artistsoninstagram #flowerstagram #wildflowers #hs2ecocide #sharphamtrust #forestbathing #ourbeautifulearth #cultivatingjoy #wildflowers #mindfulness #compassion #wildlifeplanet #xr #mindfulnessmatters #kindnessmatters #flowerphotography #flowerphoto #simplepleasures #simplicity #mindfulness #kindness

Bringing our sacred practices out into the forest for a 4 day devotional Bhakti Yoga Retreat was absolutely amazing! Here is one of the beautiful altars and offerings we made to Mother Earth, our Guides, Angels and Ancestors. Powerful shifts happened and lots of beautiful animals and insects came out to shower us with love, including grandmother hummingbird who teaches us how to see and savor the joy available in all experiences. 💚🐝🐜🐿🌿🦋🌲🦨🦉🦇🌳 #forestblessings #bhaktiyoga #divinedevotion #cultivatingjoy

•RECLAMAR NUESTRO CUERPO• (English in comments or link to blog in bio ).  . . (Cont. En comentarios o link al blog )

Day 90 of #the100dayproject :. . American Bittern. This curious bird has the capacity to contract and look like a stocky fluffy bird or tall and intimidating!. . Apparently natives used Gordes to help them nest and that tradition has kept even till this day. . Deep nourishment + simplicity can co-exist. . . Life is so messy, in so many ways, but if we set an intention for nourishment AND simplicity, we can find it... . . But I am always seeking pockets in my day for nourishment and simplicity... . . And because of my intention, I always find them. . . One thing from today. • Our work in life is with people, in conversation, ideas, faith, and connection. These have been uncertain times and we don’t know a lot about the days ahead. Over the years, Chinua and I have both realized that we do best and feel best when we are spending a good amount of time working with our hands, in addition to spending time with people and ideas. It’s a feature of our community here and we are all healthier for it. When @notahousedog was here, he helped us get started with welding. It brings me joy to walk into the workshop and find Chinua welding. That’s all. ♥️ #onething #cultivatingjoy

My word of the week is release! 🙏 Release the craziness. Whether it’s a person, a message, an experience, if it creates doubt, guilt or shame let it go!🙌🙌🙌 Receive the negative as an opportunity to grow stronger; this is how we earn our life stripes. See it as a life lesson, a lesson from the universe if you will. 🌟 🌟 You are on your path. Stay the course. Believe in you.🌟 And please, stop stressing over the people who aren’t in your front row. 😘 #lotsfull #selflove #selfvalidation #gratefulheart #mindsetiseverything #breakingfree #releaseyourself #mindsetmoodset #love #loveyourself #cultivatingjoy #growthpath #selfcare #thrivingnotsurviving #getoutofquicksand #gratitude #brenebrown #stoptheshaming #believeinyou #healingjourney #sheshines

✨Changing your perspective changes your experience.✨ Can you reframe your challenges? Can you see things a different way? Can you observe yourself from a place of non-judgement and self compassion? Can you find gratitude in the midst of hardship? I am re-emplying some strategies I learned a number of years ago in an MBSR program, (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction ) that I took. Founded by Jon Kabot Zin and now taught all over the world, MBSR has some real powerful nuggets of wisdom for cultivating a peaceful and joy-filled experience. The more of these moments we can string together, the more vibrant and fullfilling our lives become. ❤️

I've been taking some time off this week. That feels like a funny thing to say after 3½ months of "not working", but I think it's important that we talk about intentional rest even in pandemic times. . The truth is, during these past "unemployed" months I poured all my energy into yoga teacher training, with a big side of productive hobbies (hey hey sourdough! ). Blame it on my Capricorn Sun, blame it on internalized capitalism, blame it anxiety-driven overachieving (the answer is all of the above ), but even in the midst of collective slowing, I struggled a lot with taking *actual* breaks. And, as I neared the end of my program I started putting a lot of pressure on myself to figure out "What's Next". But you know what, I need to rest! And I'm gunna. . Just like a good long child's pose after some fiery vinyasa, I'm taking time to rest and digest all the work that I've done. I'm consciously creating space to integrate my learning, mindbodyspirit. This is an exuberant embrace of rest. Rest is magic! Rest creates the fertile ground where growth and creativity happen. Rest allows for reflection and exploration and new perspectives. Rest honours the natural rhythms of our body and our world. Rest makes room for joy. And I am feeling very joyful rn 💗 . The big "What Does My Future Hold" questions will still be there waiting for me next week. I actively reject the capitalist notions of "momentum" and "productivity". Rest *is* productive in the best sense of the word, because rest allows us to continue on our chosen path, at our own pace, refreshed and newly inspired. . I also think it's important to acknowledge the privilege I have to choose to rest for a few days. Not everyone has the same access to rest, and claiming that time can be treated as a shameful act of selfish rebellion. I want to state loudly that rest is not a radical or rebellious or selfish act, and any society that treats it as such is deeply broken. Take rest bbs! Even in small moments. It's essential and don't let a broken system tell you otherwise. . #rest #intentionalrest #selfcare #selfmaintenence #joy #wellness #cultivatingjoy #naturalrhythms #cultivatingwellness #takeitslow #restisresistance

Do you know the power of gratitude practice? Well functioning adults who spend 5 minutes a day in gratitude reflections have the following ⚡️increased happiness and positive mood ⚡️more satisfaction with life ⚡️feel less materialistic ⚡️less likely to experience burnout ⚡️better physical health ⚡️better sleep ⚡️less fatigue ⚡️lower levels of cellular inflammation ⚡️greater resiliency ⚡️encourages the development of patience, humility, and wisdom ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ My experience is in complete alignment with the “Science of Gratitude” studies. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The things I’m the most grateful for? Sisterhood. More on this later this week. What’s in your list today?

On my way home from work yesterday, I listened to a rebroadcast of the @cultivating_place podcast featuring poet Ross Gay. Ross Gay is a professor, poet, and gardener and one of his books is called the Book of Delights. I have yet to finish the podcast episode but it certainly left me pondering “delights.” Although there are many frustrations with gardening, there are so many joys, delights, wonders, and ultimately peace. I took pictures of baby veggies growing because they bring me delight and hope. These pictures are baby squashes, purple beans, melons, tomatoes and cukes. #cultivatingjoy #summergarden2020 #gardeninginnorthcarolina #babyveggies

Happy Friday, friends! It’s week 2 of intentionally #cultivatingjoy ! 🎉 I prepped for all of my meetings this week by thinking of one thing I was joyous about that I could control or enhance, and that couldn’t be taken away. And everyday, I found something new to be grateful for: deep sleep, good tv #LittleFiresEverywhere , blooming flowers, lavender essential oil & peace. Each something I’ve wanted or loved in this time of uncertainty that I chose to lean in to. I sat on, was thankful for & fully acknowledge each of these things all day when I began to feel stressed. The stress still came but I felt JOY in the things I decided would anchor me for the day. How have you #cultivatedjoy this week? The day I took this picture and nearly every day I'm intentional about cultivating my joy. You might ask, well shouldn't joy come naturally? Why would I need to work at that? Well, there are a lot of reasons why it may not be coming naturally, and I will be posting about that topic in the very near future. Because joy is the antidote for so many of life's woes, I want to share some quick tips for cultivating more joy in your life, right now: 1. Have live conversations with your friends and loved ones because relationships are one of the biggest sources of happiness in our lives. Many people are increasingly using texting as a way to communicate with each other. While this can be a great way to drop your loved ones a quick note, it cannot replace a meaningful conversation with the sound of the voices of your loved ones. So today, give someone you love a call or facetime them. You'll be reminded of why our social connections to each other can bring so much happiness. 2. Stay Present! All too often, you may find that you're checking out even when you're doing something enjoyable. You might find yourself thinking about something from your past or thinking about what you need to do tomorrow at work. Instead, really savor the current moment. Allow yourself to fully immerse in the beauty of the current moment. 3. Be Generous! No, don't give away all your money. Generosity can be demonstrated in so many forms. When was the last time you held the door open for someone or gave someone a compliment? In the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives, we can forget to stop and just be kind or generous with our behaviors, gestures, and even our time. As they say, "a smile can go a long way." Numerous studies show that being generous contributes to a greater sense of happiness and well-being. May today be a day of joy that you ensure by connecting, staying present, and being generous! Let me know how it goes! #cultivatingjoy #happiness #positivepsychology #generosity #wellbeing #reclaimyourdreams earrings @rockroadjewelry , clothing @boutique518 , styled by @ksl_smalltownstyling , and captured by @chloejanephoto .
