In everybody's life, there's a point of no return. And in a very few cases, a point where you can't go forward anymore. And when we reach that point, all we can do is quietly accept the fact. That's how we survive. — Haruki Murakami, Kafka on the shore.

We live in a momentous time of scientific leaps with seamlessly endless technological advancement that no one knows how far it could go. Next offers a techno-thriller tale and unrelenting action of greedy people and genetically modified animals. In this no holds barred thriller, Crichton challenges the readers to balance the reality and fiction, to be skeptical between which is possible and which is not, and gives us a taste of how something world changing could also be chaotic. And isn’t it funny how the careers of the characters in the book we read make us want to take the same path and profession they have; in this case a genetic engineer funded with millions by the government or private investors. . . 𝙦𝙤𝙩𝙙: What is your favorite character’s profession/career/job? . . H E L L O, Book Community! 📖 It has been almost a week since I posted something, but it felt like a long time. I actually took some time off reading for I was trying to fix my ruined body clock but to no avail, my sleep schedule is still screwed. I think this is going to be my last novel for this month because I will – for real this time – start academic readings. Hope y’all are taking care of your emotional and mental health and my dms are always open to anyone who wants to talk about anything Keep safe and happy reading! 💜 #Next #michaelcrichton #booksofinstagram #bookstagram #booksofinstagram #bookstagramph #booksofinstagramph #bookstagrammerph #bookaddict #bookworm #bookaholic #booknerd #geneticresearch #bookislove #bookislife #bibliophile #bookgasm #technothriller #technology #books #bookphotography #flatly #instamoment

I don't usually put myself in the photo but hmmm, why not? I read this book on my kindle app on my phone. It appealed to me because I always wonder about sleep. Our main character and the whole reason this interesting situation comes about is Dr. Roy Wallis. He attempts to do a sleep experiment based on one done in Russia. He gets tourists to be his test subjects. What would happen if they did not sleep? This seems pretty simple right? Wrong. This was an interesting idea, but I just found the book creepy and not in a good way. How can a human be so unethical just because he wants to know the answer? That's creepy and scared me. #thesleepexperiment #jeremybates #creepybooks #bookpost #kindle #kindlepaperwhite #booksofinstagram #Bookstagram #ebook #promotehorror #bookishcommunity #booksbooksbooks #booknerd #bookaholic #bookcover #booknerdigan #bookgram #fiction #horrorbooks #booksarelife

Title: Until the Day I Die Author: Emily Carpenter Genre: Suspense Published by: Lake Union Publishing Publication Date: March 12, 2019 Number of Pages: 325 My Rating: 3/5 MY REVIEW: As soon as I saw that gorgeous book cover, I knew I had to read this book. I thought for sure I'd read Emily Carpenter before...her name was so familiar. I haven't. I do have two more of her books in my Kindle library, The Weight of Lies and Every Single Secret, but as of this moment, they're unread. (Not that it's surprising...I have over 600 unread books on my Kindle. Do I have a problem? Why yes, yes I do. ) Unfortunately, this slow-burning suspense never really got off the ground. While the story was vaguely interesting, it was so highly implausible, I had a hard time settling in and truly enjoying what was happening. I hate to use this comparison, but Until the Day I Die would likely make a great Lifetime movie. There was certainly enough melodrama. The characters, with the exception of Erin and Shorie, weren't fleshed out AT ALL. In fact, when the big "twist" was revealed in the epilogue, I genuinely had to think about who that particular antagonist even was. I genuinely couldn't remember. I'd recommend this book to fans of Emily Carpenter or newbie suspense readers. **Many thanks to NetGalley, Lake Union Publishing, and Emily Carpenter for allowing me to read this book prior to publication, in exchange for my honest review. #books #bookstagram #reading #booklover #bookworm #bookish #bibliophile #bookstagrammer #instabook #booknerd #bookaddict #booksofinstagram #bookaholic #instabooks #booklove #igreads #bookphotography #bookstabuddies #booklovers #bookreviewer #readersofinstagram #bookclub #fiction #bookcommunity #writersofinstagram #bookobsessed #authorsofinstagram #ilovebooks #goodreads

Title: The Kiss Quotient Author: Helen Hoant Genre: Contemporary Romance Published by: Berkley Publishing Publication Date: June 5, 2018 Number of Pages: 336 My Rating: 2.5/5 MY REVIEW: As the mother of a teenage son who was diagnosed with moderate to severe autism at age 2, I'm always a bit leery reading stories with characters on the spectrum. So often, I feel autism is glamorized in all forms of media, when our actual reality is much, much different. Knowing the author has an actual ASD diagnosis herself, however, kept my hopes high. Overall, Stella felt authentic...as did the way Michael was able to make connections and soothe her. I enjoyed their characters quite a bit. My gripes? The excessive amount of sex (and this coming from a seriously non-prudish woman ). Trust me, this isn't a YA novel. The sex is fairly graphic and quite steamy. Unfortunately, after you've read one sex scene, you've read them all and frankly, it felt like sexual encounters and descriptions took up half the book. The story was also, unfortunately, beyond predictable. Am I the only reader of romance who sometimes wishes the couple didn't end up together? These too-good-to-be true relationships are a bit dull and a little unrealistic. Overall, I feel this was a fairly average read...there isn't really anything new or exciting to be found here. #books #bookstagram #reading #booklover #bookworm #bookish #bibliophile #bookstagrammer #instabook #booknerd #bookaddict #booksofinstagram #bookaholic #instabooks #booklove #igreads #bookphotography #bookstabuddies #booklovers #bookreviewer #readersofinstagram #bookclub #fiction #bookcommunity #writersofinstagram #bookobsessed #authorsofinstagram #ilovebooks #goodreads

Book review 📖🤩 Spoiler Alert ⭐️⭐️⭐️ . . . I was reading late into the night to finish this one 🖤 . . . Maggie Stiefvater - The Raven Boys - ★★★★☆ - This was a perfect fall read ✨🍂 exactly what I needed to get into the spirit of Halloween 👻 This was such a fun read, the characters are so amusing, I was actually chuckling to myself at the banter between Gansey, Blue and Ronan. I did find it to drag on a little bit towards the last hundred pages, but I didn't really mind, I got to stay in their world just a little bit longer. I also didn't like how Barringron Whelk just died and everything was suddenly over, there was so much supsense, I thought the book was gonna go so much deeper into it, especially how he clashed with his students and had all this jealousy towards their wealth and opportunities, I was just expecting a more dramatic ending. But I loved it anyway, and I can't wait to read the rest of the series...eventually 😅💜I definitely recommend this book! 📖 #bookstagram #books #bookstagrammer #booksbooksbooks #booksofinstagram #igbooks #fallbookstagram #booksofig #books 📚 #bookslover #bookgeek #booknerd #bookgirl #bookaholic #bookaholics #bookreccomendation #bookreviews #bookreview #bookcommunity #bookaesthetic #theravencycle #theravenboys #bookishcoven #fallreads #bookishlove #bookishlife #bookish #bookishphotography #bookishaesthetic #bookishpost

Title: Her Pretty Face Author: Robin Harding Genre: Domestic Fiction Published by: Gallery/Scout Press Publication Date: July 10, 2018 Number of Pages: 352 My Rating: 3/5 MY REVIEW: Not sure this should be classified as a psychological thriller. Indeed, not sure it should be classified as a thriller or suspense, period. To me, it read more as domestic fiction. Believe me when I say...there is NOTHING twisty or psychological about this novel. While it does include a character who was a convicted murderer, the story is more about family, friendships, adult bullying, dealing with your past, and being comfortable in your own skin. Told from three individual's perspectives, throughout different time periods, Her Pretty Face is an incredibly well-written novel. The characters are convincing and the plots kept me entertained. However, what was meant to be a surprising reveal, was not. It's very clear, from very early in the story, the answers to the so-called twists. Clearly, the marketing of this novel was misleading. Regardless, I definitely feel this is one worth reading. Had I gone in with the mindset that this was something other than a thriller, I likely would have enjoyed it more. And how about that cover? It's really intriguing. I'm not super clear on the title...not sure it's really reflective of the words inside, but that cover is all sorts of awesome. #books #bookstagram #reading #booklover #bookworm #bookish #bibliophile #bookstagrammer #instabook #booknerd #bookaddict #booksofinstagram #bookaholic #instabooks #booklove #igreads #bookphotography #bookstabuddies #booklovers #bookreviewer #readersofinstagram #bookclub #fiction #bookcommunity #writersofinstagram #bookobsessed #authorsofinstagram #ilovebooks #goodreads

"It will hurt. Because deep down, I'll know there was someone.. someone I was supposed to have met. Only I'll never meet him. I'll go through my whole life waiting for him to come along, only he never will. What kind of life is that?" - Susannah Simon 📚 📚 📚 Oh the feels 😭 I really enjoyed my journey with Suze. This series was fun, humorous, a little shady, and completely amazing. I love how it teaches you some small things. Things you might not even notice at first. And oh my god Jesse, like can you please exist and love me? 😂 Seriously, where can i find a guy like that? Anyway forget my crush on him. I just feel sad that her journey is over. It's like i want moreee. More of kicking ghost buts and having Father D. Pissed at Suze for using her fist instead of calmness. Oh and don't get me started on the waterworks! I couldn't believe what was happening! I recently took a break from my usual fast-paced YA fantasies and ventured into the world of Adult Fiction. I spend an ample amount on my free time on booktube and most of my favorite booktubers would always praise the author Taylor Jenkins Reid and these two books of hers in particular so I decided to order both books online and see if it lives up to the hype. - - I am both broken and blown away. These books are equally phenomenal and unique. The characters are incredibly flawed and complex but that is what makes them feel real. Both novels use a non-fiction format to write a fictional story which makes them so readable. For a much more immersive experience, I highly recommend listening to the audiobooks while reading them (you can get them on either scribd, audible, or download them from vk ). Did I sob like a baby for both? Yes. These stories live in my head rent free and therefore deserve a feature on my feed. - - Hoping you’re gonna love them as much as I do ❤️

Title: The Perfect Alibi Author: Phillip Margolin Genre: Legal Thriller Published by: Minotaur Books Publication Date: March 5, 2019 Number of Pages: 320 My Rating: 2.5/5 MY REVIEW: An interesting, if somewhat unfocused, read. This is my first Phillip Margolin novel, and for about the first 25%, I was pleasantly surprised. The story was interesting and really kept my attention. After that, things became a little disjointed. There were just so many story lines. It felt like an octopus, with Robin Lockwood, the main protagonist, being the brain...and 8 separate tentacles (or plot lines ) radiating outward. It was a lot. Even worse, I figured everything out VERY early on...despite all the plots, the twists weren't really twists at all. I will say everything was tied up nicely at the conclusion, and all the stories played well off the others, but it just felt a little too convoluted. I didn't realize, at first, that this was the sophomore offering in a series, but this could very much be a standalone effort. The only other thing I can say about this book, and part of the reason it didn't get a better ranking...the dialogue isn't great. It's terribly stilted and awkward. Some authors excel at dialogue, others don't. This is clearly an area upon which Mr. Margolin could improve. Having said that, I'd likely pick up another of his novels. I feel he has great crime writing potential, but I do hope he realizes that often times, less is more. 2.5 stars **As always, thanks to NetGalley and Minotaur Books for the advanced reader's copy in exchange for my honest review. It's greatly appreciated. #books #bookstagram #reading #booklover #bookworm #bookish #bibliophile #bookstagrammer #instabook #booknerd #bookaddict #booksofinstagram #bookaholic #instabooks #booklove #igreads #bookphotography #bookstabuddies #booklovers #bookreviewer #readersofinstagram #bookclub #fiction #bookcommunity #writersofinstagram #bookobsessed #authorsofinstagram #ilovebooks #goodreads

Book #93 of 100 Books by 100 Female Authors: Erin Carmon & Shana Krizhnik’s “Notorious RBG”: I finished this book earlier last week during a walk with Nola. I meant to post about it on Friday, but her death made things really hard for a lot of us in the States. As for this book, it was insightful and it gave me an insight into the life of someone who spent a lot of her life in service to my country. I hope to meet her one day in the afterlife.

Title: I'm Fine and Neither Are You Author: Camille Pagán Genre: Literary/Domestic Fiction Published by: Lake Union Publishing Publication Date: April 1, 2019 Number of Pages: 270 My Rating: 4/5 MY REVIEW: Just what the doctor ordered... A suspense/thriller junky, I often find myself feeling a little less than inspired as I read the same tired story lines over and over and over again. Today, I needed a break. Having read several other Camille Pagán novels in the past couple years, and loving every one, I was so excited to dive into I'm Fine and Neither Are You this morning. Yes, I said this morning. I read the entire book in just a few hours. I couldn't put it down. If it's action and intense excitement you're looking for, this isn't the novel for you. This is the book for the married mother, trying to keep an unnaturally high number of balls juggling all at once, who neglects her happiness for the sake of others. The voices of these characters were so real. I found myself laughing, crying, and everything in between, as Penny dealt with the loss of her best friend, her crumbling marriage, her less than stellar body, her screaming kids, the job she never wanted...even her "comfy" home (short for messy and lived in ). I kind of loved Penny...although, unlike her, I've never had a problem being upfront and honest. Perhaps my issue is the other extreme...too brash and loud-mouthed. Let's face it...we've all been down this road, forever putting the needs of our husband, our children, even our employer, ahead of our own. Why we all try to be Superwoman, I have no idea, but it seems to be the very essence of a mother's DNA. I'm Fine and Neither Are You is a timely and thought-provoking novel about life, and, despite the pitfalls, being grateful we're still alive for the struggles. I couldn't recommend this book more...for all ages. #books #bookstagram #reading #booklover #bookworm #bookish #bibliophile #bookstagrammer #instabook #booknerd #bookaddict #booksofinstagram #bookaholic #instabooks #booklove #igreads #bookphotography #bookstabuddies #booklovers #bookreviewer #readersofinstagram #bookclub #fiction #bookcommunity #writersofinstagram

Title: Jane Doe Author: Victoria Helen Stone Genre: Psychological Thriller Published by: Lake Union Publishing Publication Date: August 1, 2018 Number of Pages: 268 My Rating: 4/5 MY REVIEW: I kind of loved, and maybe even have a girl crush on, Jane. She was probably the most delightfully refreshing narrator of any book I've had the pleasure of reading for a long, long time--unapologetically sociopathic and brilliant. Bo przecież grunt wzajemnego zrozumienia i wspólnego życia to szczerość i rozmowa. Dobrego dnia 😘

Manhunt by @priyakumar7272 is a soul warming inspirational thriller...while the story revolves around the nagarjuna forest, it isn't just about the forest  or the wildlife...its about life and living it to the essence... The story revolves around the nagarjuna tiger reserve , the white tiger , the monk and a canter full of people who went astray... Would you have thought going on a trip that it would change everything about you ? It was the same for Rahul, jay, naseer and everyone who went in to the wild . The story talks about a lot of issues like deforestation, corruption, and soon... The white tiger is by far one of my favourite characters, I loved how the author showed the man-wild balance through it. The cover of the book is so captivating. I loved how priyakumar brought out an inspirational  story through a thriller...and how every character had a purpose . We may be born a beast or man but it's the choices we make, that makes us what we really are.... Written in a lucid language, it is a must read to anyone who loves crime, thriller, or motivation... #manhunt #review #reviewergirl #insta #instabooks #bookaholic #24sepbrc #saveandlike

Title: The Forgotten Hours Author: Katrin Schumann Genre: Coming-of-age drama Published by: Lake Union Publishing Publication Date: February 1, 2019 Number of Pages: 332 My Rating: 1.5/5 MY REVIEW: So much waiting, so little pay-off. I truly wanted to love this book. The powerful #metoo movement our country has seen surface the past few years had me desperately wanting to root for Lulu...but it was so hard. Her character was fake, belligerent, and a tad narcissistic. I know others will disagree, and that's okay. I just had a hard time feeling anything about her at all. As for Katie...yuck. She was aggravating. In this day and age, when EVERYTHING is splashed all over the internet, we're really supposed to believe she didn't even know who testified at her father's rape trial? Really? Unless she's an ostrich with her head buried in the sand, it's simply not plausible. I don't mind suspending belief a bit, but come on. Charlie and David could have added so much texture and insight, but the author instead chose to make them meaningless, secondary characters who added nothing at all to the tapestry of the story. The main problem for me? The book was just horribly boring and anti-climatic. Nothing happened except page after page of Katie's internal dialogue--long, rambling, tedious passages. The story also jumps back and forth over multiple time periods, but the changes aren't identified in any way at the start of the chapters. Makes for a bit of confusion. I had such high hopes. #books #bookstagram #reading #booklover #bookworm #bookish #bibliophile #bookstagrammer #instabook #booknerd #bookaddict #booksofinstagram #bookaholic #instabooks #booklove #igreads #bookphotography #bookstabuddies #booklovers #bookreviewer #readersofinstagram #bookclub #fiction #bookcommunity #writersofinstagram #bookobsessed #authorsofinstagram #ilovebooks #goodreads

Title: Jar of Hearts Author: Jennifer Hillier Genre: Psychological Thriller Published by: Minotaur Books Publication Date: June 12, 2018 Number of Pages: 320 My Rating: 5/5 MY REVIEW: I love when authors push the limits of what's acceptable and go there. Jennifer Hillier absolutely does, and it's one of the many reasons her books are so, so good. Jar of Hearts is the fifth of her books I've read, and I've rated all of them either 4 or 5 stars. I read so many suspense/thriller novels, I've become a bit immune to the human depravity in most. But Hillier gives her readers that little bit extra, and I love every minute. Her work reminds me very much of early Karin Slaughter novels. Both authors have a unique ability to pull their readers right into the lives of their characters...from page 1. That's a genuine talent. Further, neither author is afraid to take their readers into the deepest, darkest, most depraved crevices of the human psyche, and it's a beautiful thing. Jar of Hearts is fast paced, gripping, utterly disturbing, grisly, and oh so satisfying. Having said that, there are triggers which I feel readers should be warned about...there are three fairly graphic rape scenes, one attempted rape, incest, dismemberment, and an untold number of grisly murders, those of children included. If those things bother you in fictional stories, this isn't the novel for you. I genuinely can't wait to see what Ms. Hillier comes up with next. Thankfully, we shouldn't have to wait long, as she posted on social media that she just wrapped up her 6th novel last night (2/23/19 ). And after Jar of Hearts, JH has definitely earned an honorary spot as one of my Top 5 favorite authors. I recommend this novel to fellow readers who are into hardcore psychological suspense novels, as well as those readers who are fans of Karin Slaughter. 5 gory, bloody stars! #books #bookstagram #reading #booklover #bookworm #bookish #bibliophile #bookstagrammer #instabook #booknerd #bookaddict #booksofinstagram #bookaholic #instabooks #booklove #igreads #bookphotography #bookstabuddies #booklovers #bookreviewer #readersofinstagram #bookclub #fiction #bookcommunity #writersofinstagram

• The end was really a heartstopper 📚 • Oohhh, peeps! I'm in love. So deeply that it makes me more cheesy than a pizza with 4kg of gouda. I cannot tell you how much I love this graphic novel and the following 'volumes' (which you get in separate reviews ) - I might have bingeread them last week 😂❤ • It's about Charlie and Nick, who get to meet because they get seated beside each other in school. Charlie is openly gay and got bullied a lot for it when it came out and you notice how this is still influencing him. But from the first second they met, Nick's just pure sugar, absolutely funny and a good friend for Charlie. He has his back and there are no prejudices at all from his side. The slapstick in this novel is GOLD and fucking hilarious, oh my 😂❤ both of them are so freaking cute and more adorable than 7 fluffy puppies with big eyes. The whole story is absolutely authentic and the development is as realistic as it could get. And gosh, I squeaked worse than any doggo toy in the sweetest moments 😍😂 I literally GASPED at some points 😂 the story, the characters and the style of drawing swallowed me whole - it's fucking fantastic 😭❤ and it's heartwrenching as fuck and LO AND BEHOLD! It might got the WORST cliffhanger of all time!! Although I knew that everything will be fine, I just needed to KNOW! And yes, I might have ordered the second and third graphic novel and a novella while I was halfway through this one and GOT FUCKING DESPERATE when I finished it and saw that the other ones would take till the next day to arrive 😭😭😭 shit, you have no idea 😂 • There are so many important issues, many lessons, many explanations without pointing a finger 💖 perfectly perfect in every sense and even if you're not into graphic novels (I also wasn't ), GO BUY AND READ IT!!! I laughed so hard and snorted with laughter when I didn't swoon!! Misconceptions, prejudices and everything bad are broached as issue and absolutely "disproved", I love it! • And these two are definitely high in the range of my favourite couples of all time (yes, Kai & Bryson from 'Date me, Bryson Keller' also! 😂 ) 🥰❤ • AAHHHH I COULD JUST READ IT ALL OVER AGAIN AND I'LL MOST PROBABLY DO IT!!!! ❤❤❤

Title: The Promise Author: Teresa Driscoll Genre: Domestic Drama/Mystery Published by: Thomas & Mercer Publication Date: February 7, 2019 Number of Pages: 314 My Rating: 2/5 MY REVIEW: Underwhelming? Anti-climatic? -- A big whopping yes to both. If you're looking for a psychological suspense, The Promise isn't the book for you. I'd say it's more of a domestic fiction. Mostly though, it's just dull. The book begins with some serious potential: "Three girls. One dead. She looks at the other girl -lips blue- and all of the blood, and she realizes the happiness on the beach was just a trick." These words made it appear we were sitting on the cusp of a deeply dark, deeply disturbing story. Unfortunately, we weren't. When, at around the 65% mark, the secret was revealed, I was less than thrilled. I thought to myself, "I was waiting for this? Really?" The final 10% of the book throws a few mild surprises at the readers (one of which was very easy to figure out ), but honestly, at that point, I didn't really give a hoot one way or another. I was bored with the characters, bored with the story, and annoyed that "the promise" was so underwhelming. I loved the debut novel by Teresa Driscoll, I Am Watching You. Unfortunately, I was less inspired by book two, The Friend, and The Promise might be the worst yet. **Despite my lackluster review, I'd still like to thank NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for the advanced reader's copy, given in exchange for my honest review. #books #bookstagram #reading #booklover #bookworm #bookish #bibliophile #bookstagrammer #instabook #booknerd #bookaddict #booksofinstagram #bookaholic #instabooks #booklove #igreads #bookphotography #bookstabuddies #booklovers #bookreviewer #readersofinstagram #bookclub #fiction #bookcommunity #writersofinstagram #bookobsessed #authorsofinstagram #ilovebooks #goodreads

Yesterday was the official start to Autumn. In my opinion though we had a headstart a few days ago. The cool breeze, the rich maroon color, the idea of a slower pace, & the holiday season(s ) are all around the corner & I couldn't be more pleased. This is when things begin to get cozy, if you will. When this time of year comes so do the ideal calm. Or at least that's the plan. 🍂 This book holds a special place in my heart. It is the very first one I ever read by Deeanne Gist. The miscommunication, mixted signals on both Constance & Drew's part is so cute & pure that it warms my heart. 🍂 QOTD: What is your favorite part to the start of this season? 🍂 #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bibliophile #bookworm #booknerd #bookgeek #booklove #bookphotography #booklover #booknerdigans #booktography #bookishlove #instabook #bookaesthetic #instagood #instaread #bookdragon #bookfeaturepage #mybookfeature #bookflatlay #bookishfeatures #bookaddict #bookphoto #instalove #multigenrebabes #bookreader #bookaholic #totalbooknerd #abridemostbegrudging #deeannegist

𝙑𝘼𝙇𝙀 𝘼 𝙋𝙀𝙉𝘼 𝘾𝙊𝙈𝙋𝙍𝘼𝙍 𝙐𝙈 𝙆𝙄𝙉𝘿𝙇𝙀?⁣ ⁣ Oi, gente!

If anyone needs me, I’ll be sitting by the window staring at the rain and sipping tea 🌧 . . QOTD: Do you have any thriller/horror books on your TBR? Or what are your favourites? . . AOTD: I’m hoping to read some spookier books over the next couple of months but I haven’t decided which ones yet. I don’t actually like things that are toooo scary so I’m trying to find mild thriller/detective stories 👍🏼

I hope you’ve all had a wonderful Wednesday! @curiousgardenreads tagged me in the last/now/next challenge on Sunday, and I’m so excited to participate! • Last read was Everything Everything, which I absolutely loved! • Current read is Get a Life Chloe Brown. I love a good romantic comedy. Chloe reminds me of myself. I also have a chronic autoimmune disease, and created a bucket list for myself after a near death experience last year. Her struggles are super relatable. S/o to all of the #chronicillnesswarriors out there! •Next read is @alyssacolelit ‘s When No One is Watching, I’ve heard so many great things about this book & I’m excited to dive in! Tagging some friends to participate, no pressure! ✨

Hi everyone 💕⁣ ⁣ This is a gripping psychological thriller that will make the reader wonder what the heck is going on.⁣ The chapters switch between past and present, which is something I really enjoy in a psychological thriller. However, the “present chapters” were a little confusing and all over the place which is why I didn’t rate it higher.⁣ ⁣ 3.4 ⭐️ ⁣ ⁣ Lucy is a best-selling author. Her mystery books have detective Eliza as the main character and people are obsessed with her. What people don’t know is that Eliza used to be her imaginary friend when she was a kid and she became someone real for Lucy. When Lucy decides to kill Eliza in her latest book, her life falls apart.⁣ ⁣ She also has a very dark past that only her husband knows about: When she was a child, she took her three-year-old brother Teddy to a forest in the middle of the night and he went missing.⁣ Now, her husband Dan has the brilliant idea to buy a house right next to the forest where her brother went missing years ago – what the heck, Dan? 😠⁣ ⁣ A few days after moving into the house, Dan goes missing. Lucy thinks Eliza is to blame, but she’s only a product of her imagination – isn’t she? 🤔⁣ ⁣ I liked the general premise and it got me hooked, but I had a lot of issues with the chaos in the "present" chapters and the conclusion didn’t really work for me.⁣ ⁣ Thank you @williammorrowbooks and @girlybookclub for sending me a #gifted copy.⁣
