Wow!! This was a memory! I'm just having a well and truly good clear out and I found these. It's taken me back 3 and a half years and made me realise how far I've come. I'm just going to say this, I AM SO PROUD OF MYSELF!! This was the only prescribed drug I took though some pretty difficult times, where I felt like I couldn't breathe. Now I had other help, these were lots of therapy and, my reason for become a trainer, fitness. It wasn't easy and wow I remember feeling like it was a never ending road but boom I'm here I am 🤓 the hard work paid off. I can not stress how much fitness saved me. It is the most powerful, healthy and free drug used to help with stress, insomnia, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, and so much more. It's so underrated and very much underused. You don't have to do burpees to feel the benefits, you just walk. Any type of movement is enough. I also noticed through fitness, that I found new friends who understood me and I could trust and relate too. These humans are now irreplaceable and part of my tribe. If you find you're in a dark place, its going to be OK. Do what you can to help and look after yourself. The dark times will lift if you do what you can to get better. During my social media break, my beautiful friend sent me the link to this song... I'd never heard it before, but its safe to say it found me at the right time... When it got to these lyrics, I felt the emotional shift in me, the tears pooling in my eyes, the familiar lump in my throat. Muscle memory tried to stop me, but I gave myself permission to cry... In my 7th year of healing and I sometimes still have days where I have to give myself permission to cry, but as I let it out I felt my heavy load getting lighter... This song is now on my playlist because its stunning... I'm so grateful that this song found me, now I want to share it with you all... Music can be powerful... As we move through each day there will be things that will occur that will motivate a thought or a memory when things were difficult and uncertain. “What a Ride,” can have similarities of what riding a roller coaster would feel like. Life’s many ups and downs, with it’s twist and turns can make many us feel unwilling and uncomfortable. Bei diesem ungemütlichen Wetter habe ich mir heute mal wieder einen griechischem Bergtee gemacht. Der Tee hat eine zitronige Note und ist leicht süßlich im Geschmack. Der Geruch erinnert etwas an Salbei. Du kannst sowohl aus den frischen, als auch aus den getrockneten Pflanzen Tee brühen. Zubereitung: Gib ca. 5 bis 10g der Pflanze in eine Kanne für einen Liter Tee. Dabei kannst du nicht nur die Blüte verwenden, sondern auch den Stängel und Blätter. Übergieße alles mit kochendem Wasser. Lasse den Tee etwa 5 bis 10 Minuten ziehen und entferne anschließend die Kräuter. Der griechische Bergtee ist ein echtes Multitalent! Und hilft z.B. bei: 🍃Magen-und-Darmprobleme, wie Gastritis: Der Tee beruhigt den Verdauungstrakt und wirkt entzündungshemmend. Außerdem unterstützt er die natürlichen Stoffwechselprozesse 🍃Erkältung: Neben der antibakteriellen Eigenschaft, wirkt griechischer Tee auch schleimlösend und kann dich so bei Husten und Schnupfen unterstützen 🍃Wunden: Du kannst den Tee auch zur äußeren Anwendung bei Wunden verwenden. Reinige deine Wunde einfach mit einem sauberen Tuch und etwas griechischem Bergtee. I have felt really sluggish lately and have been in pain most days with my endometriosis. I have been “shielding” due to being in the “higher risk category” since mid March. Most of my friends and family have started to go back to work and I just feel stuck. Some days it has been harder to get myself out of bed because I don’t have much to do. I had been trying to set myself small goals each day and have been giving myself jobs and activities to do. So happy that I can stop shielding on 1st August, but I still don’t know when work will need me back so that’s causing me some anxiety. Today I decided to do my hair and make up, a little goal to give me a boost! Today was one of those days where my gender non-conforming non-binary existence was questioned. The questions turned to suggestions, suggesting that I work towards being a man or a woman. The suggestions turned to warnings and soon escalated to threats. Threats accompanied by racial and sexist insults. Insults were cast at me, insults that were uncalled for. My very existence and being was introspected and forcibly binarized to cure their insecurities. It was plain old verbal, emotional and physical violence, which could've escalated to physical violence from my past experiences. In the end, I was concluded to be an ugly, vile, disgusting abomination, that needs to be hunted down and killed. That's what I'm to most of them. That's the worth of my existence. A miniscule part of me dies every time I'm hurt. At times I realize it, at times I'm too numb to feel anything. We realize we haven't really done much of an introduction before! You can not wake up someone who is pretending to be asleep. My humble learning over time has been whilst honesty is necessary in relationships, not everyone is ready for it, sometimes we ourselves aren't. Some of our closest relationships co exist with a grudge of a deeply rooted past experience, some of our fluctuating friendships have found their ways back through firm foundations, some teach you how to define your boundaries and some teach you what it means to be free. But in all this, the most important lesson I learnt was letting go. You may have known someone you were very close to, but with time you both have grown into people who can't seem to accept or resolve their deeper latent conflicts with each other. Sometimes you might try but you will notice nothing but a cold shoulder, or worse a pre-judgement that puts all your efforts to 0. At this point it's usually better to not force yourself upon them or force themselves upon you to save the idea of that relationship. Carry everything good and cherish all the memories, and be okay with the fact this person is just not the same, and wish them growth and love and new people who will take care of them. Though this is not something I am preaching or an approach I am asking you to take. Merely something I learnt after too long. The end of an era Today was supposed to mark the final day of dental school and the end of an era with my group from day 1, Group .3. I’ll never forget my first anatomy session where I recognised Chandru from an interview I had for Optom at Manchester the year before, I remember turning and us both pointing at each other in shock at what a small world it was! I’ll never forget doing my first ever LA on my best friend George and how terrified we were of permanently paralysing each other 😂. I’ll never forget the many group presentations we had to do, the awful role plays and videos we made for our presentations, the first time we were all on clinics together and when we started term 6 and did our phantom head labs together. I’ll never forget the philosophical window with Dom and Toseef during our first year anatomy SGTs whilst waiting for our anatomy tutors, I’ll never forget walking into Anisah and Tejinder’s bays on clinic and having a moan about how much we hated life. Most importantly I’ll never forget the love shared between us all and how much fun we had and how we lifted each other up during difficult times. I’ll miss this group and everyone at dental school very much yay to the Corona Cohort and Class of 2020! ~ Making the decision to not take meds for mental health ~ ⁣ Instagram is thankfully full of people (especially in this community ) who are open about mental health & about taking medication for it. People are honest about their experiences & what has worked or been difficult & about how even helpful pills won’t solve everything alone. I’m a big advocate of taking mental health meds if they help you but I also wanted to talk about another side of the story. If you’ve followed me for a bit of time, you’ll know that I’ve been on and off them during my bipolar diagnosis & that I definitely have a love-hate relationship. I want to be frank - there are some times where I *need* them to be mentally well and to prevent episodes. But equally these pills can be really hard to take. Of the four or so I’ve tried for my mental health, the side effects have often been intolerable - from insomnia to tiredness, nausea to huge appetite & weight gain, lightheadness, tremors, needing to pee all the time (lol ), & even persistent hiccups! So for me actually I’ve made the decision with my doc to wean off meds (once again ) and keep controlling my mental health (which has been good thankfully ) through lifestyle. I want to be open about this, because sometimes the conversation on pill acceptance can leave off the point that actually sometimes taking medications might be a really horrible experience for you (& it’s okay if you’re still looking for a med that works and makes you feel physically okay too, or if you and your doc decide that maybe medication isn’t right for you right now ). Sometimes you do have to make compromises, but we all experience mental health differently & it’s okay to decide that meds aren’t helping you!
