Matcha Tea Peach Smoothie 🍑 I am ‘almost’ glad we ran out off coffee this morning, because it gave me a chance to experiment with this matcha tea smoothie. 😂 Matcha comes from camellia sinensis, the same plant as green tea, but has a unique growing process. Matcha plants are covered to avoid direct sunlight 20-30 days before harvest. This process changes the nutrient profile by increasing chlorophyll production. Matcha also has higher concentrations of antioxidants and caffeine than regular green tea. Proven health benefits of matcha include: 🍵 liver and kidney protection, including reduction of liver enzymes in patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. 🍵improved cognitive function, including better concentration, attention, and memory. 🍵cancer prevention. Matcha is particularly high in EGCG, shown to be effective against skin, lung, liver, and prostate cancer. 🍵improved cardiac profile, including reduced LDL and blood pressure. 🍵increased metabolism and weight reduction. RECIPE: 1 cup brewed matcha tea. I used @rishitea and put in the fridge for about 20 mins while I took a shower to allow it to chill. 1/2 banana 1 cup frozen peaches 1 large handful fresh greens. I used kale today. 2 tbs hulled hemp seeds A splash of unsweetened vanilla almond milk Blend and enjoy! #matcha #matchagreentea #matcharecipes #greensmoothie #plantbased #plantbasedrecipes #plantbasedsmoothie #powerofplants #lifestylemedicine #diseaseprevention #veganrecipes #vegansmoothies #dairyfree

During a global pandemic, likely caused by the exploitation of animals, humanity’s relationship with other species continues largely unchanged: meat flies off the shelves and a docu-series trivializing the plight of captive wild animals is an Emmy-nominated success.⠀ ⠀ What makes it possible for most humans to continue “as normal” instead of questioning our relationship with or use of non-human animals?⠀ ⠀ Lorelei Plotczyk of @truthordrought discusses speciesism and its role in the spread of pandemics via the link in our bio 👉 @sentient_media ⠀ ⠀ [ 📸 : Rick Aplin ]

My name’s David and for as long as I can remember, I have been driven by this desire to maximize my #human potential. Over that time, I have observed, absorbed and applied and continue to do so. Except now, I’ve decided it was time I share my journey with you. For years, I was left wondering why I could not ‘breakthrough’. Motivation was hard to come by, I was in a losing battle with vice, health steadily on the decline, gained weight, easily distracted, and ultimately stuck. Just doing enough. My greatest fear realizing before my very eyes. That was until I began to look inward. I learned how crucial having a sound physical and mental well-being was to feel not just well but great, not just get by but thrive, not just think clearly but think imaginatively, not just fulfill my potential but maximize my potential. This is when I began to establish a protocol focused on enhancing my cognitive abilities as well as my body’s functional abilities. With a proper #fasting strategy, the right amount of nutrients, better #sleep habits, breathwork, and exercise routine, I never felt sharper or more able than ever before. My #energy and focus levels increased, self-confidence soared, vision sharpened, mood stabilized, #mind cleared, and burned unhealthy fat. I appreciate the power of information just as much as I appreciate the power of #inspiration . Naturally, I began to realize this desire to share what I’ve learned and will continue to learn with the world. And so here I am.

Mindful Choices: The choices made everyday, every moment!! . . With the every bite of food you eat, with the very thoughts you dig in. Its a matter of choice which caters your body well in terms of nutritional and brain health. . . Several Western countries, which we praise of their highly organised and sanitised level of food industry, are actually fighting the pandemic of lifestyle diseases like obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure and alike due to extreme use of packaged food which is heavily processed offering less nutrition than required. . . Several campaigns are being run to urge and educate people on why and how home cooked and plant based meals can actually reverse the effects of lifestyle diseases. . Unlike India, where the ritual of home cooking had been diligently followed for ages but knowing again what serves your body and brain right is the key to good health. I am a passionate but mindful foodie( always on the lookout to balance my meals in order to derive maximum nutrition while leaving a window to indulge into sinful and guilt free delectables later on ), a mindful mother trying to put in every vitamin and mineral into the size of a minion and always on a move to engage my young Einstein into productivity. A common question we get at #CGMN from consumers is "Should we should be worried about antibiotics in meat?" 🥩 No. According to @mnhealth , it is against the law to sell meat containing antibiotics. When an animal is treated with antibiotics, farmers must follow strict federal guidelines defining how long they must withhold that animal’s meat or milk from consumption. Farmers here in Minnesota and across the U.S. strive to produce healthy, safe food and work hard to provide quality care for their animals. If you have questions about how farmers care for their animals or crops, let us know! Another great question to ask during a FB LIVE Q&A! 💡 #AskAFarmer

Aug 12 ♧ New research from two London hospital maternity units; University College London Hospital and St George's Hospital in London, shows that 1 in 6 maternity workers tested positive for COVID-19 antibodies, showing they have had a previous infection. Of those testing positive, 1 in 3 were completely asymptomatic. Worryingly, more than half (58% ) of those who tested positive never met the UK Government's criteria for self-isolation, and thus did not self-isolate and continued to work as normal in their hospital. The study included anaesthetists, midwives, and obstetricians with no previously confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19, who were tested for prior COVID-19 infection using laboratory antibody tests. A total of 14.5% tested positive (seropositive ). The highest positivity rate was found in midwives at 15.7% followed by obstetricians at 13.5% and anaesthetists at 12.5%. Of those who tested positive for COVID-19 antibodies,35.5% were completely asymptomatic. The risk posed by infectious staff members to colleagues, pregnant women, and their offspring remains unknown. Until we have robust evidence as to the risk posed by asymptomatic infected individuals to others, and as to the risk of COVID-19 to babies, particularly during pregnancy, our study suggests that extreme caution is advisable in maternity settings, particularly the consistent use of effective personal protective equipment (PPE ) and other known effective measures including social distancing of staff and the regular washing of hands. ♧ #awarenessisfreedom #awarenessiskey #knowledgeisfree #knowledgeiskey #knowledgeispower #themoreyouknow 🌈 #pregnantduringcovid19 #pregnancyannouncement #pregnantduringapandemic #midwifery #midwife #obgyn #homebirth #doulalife #csection #csectionrecovery #prenatalhealth #37weekspregnant #preventdisease #diseaseprevention #healthylivingtips #birthmatters #socialdistancing2020 #infantlossawareness #preemiemom #highriskpregnancy #pregnancytest #csectionmama

Aug 11 ◇ Lorestan University of Medical Sciences in Iran has recently reported that vitamins C and E may protect against preeclampsia by alleviating the overall blood pressure. Preeclampsia is the main cause of perinatal and maternal mortality worldwide. Preeclampsia may affect between 2–8% of all pregnancies. It seriously affects maternal health after pregnancy. Oxidative stress has been regarded as a pathogenic mechanism of this disease. Oxidative stress is commonly brought about by the increased level of reactive oxygen species (ROS ) or lack of antioxidants. One group of women received a 400-IU/day dose of vitamin E orally and a 1000-mg/day dose of vitamin C with iron tablets during 20–24 weeks of pregnancy, while the control group received only iron tablets. The incidence of preeclampsia in the control group was 17.5% and in the intervention group was 5%, which was significantly different. The mean systolic pressures before and after intervention were 99.43 ± 7.8 and 12.44 ± 19.1, respectively, in the control group, and 99.3 ± 8.3 and 106.12 ± 13.25, in the intervention group. Vitamin E, an important lipid-soluble antioxidant, is responsible for protecting cells against inflammatory response and lipid peroxidation, which shows regulatory effects on the blood pressure. ◇ #awarenessisfreedom #awarenessiskey #knowledgeisfree #knowledgeiskey #knowledgeispower #preeclampsia #preeclampsiasurvivor #preeclampsiaawareness #antioxidants #pregnantduringcovid19 #pregnancyannouncement #pregnantduringapandemic #prenatalhealth #prenatalcare #healthypregnancy #midwifery #midwife #doulalife #obgyn #hearthealthy #womenshealth #maternalhealth #healthylivingtips #medicinalplants #preventdisease #diseaseprevention

As I sit here in my backyard listening to the birds and drinking my cup of coffee I am feeling compelled to share. I hope you don’t mind. I thought I would share a little bit of my story this morning to reveal my heart and my passion for protecting our biggest asset... our health. I remember even as a little girl being very self aware of how I felt physically. I was hypersensitive to my own physical energy and to any ailments that would come up. I was always fascinated with how the body worked and what foods and remedies made me feel better. I took nutrition classes in university but instead of turning to a career in health and wellness I took another turn to television broadcasting and spent almost 20 years co-producing television programs and news at a television station in Montreal. A move to another province and a fresh start as home-maker and mom of two led me down the road of entrepreneurship as an event planner. That was a lot of fun and a lot of work and after the financial crisis of 2008 my business partner and I closed the doors. During that time I had been introduced to a dynamic wellness ambassador in my network named Leanne Jacobs. She and her business partner Julie Boyer sat me down and showed me a vehicle that could allow me to finally dip my feet into health and wellness and to educate others on the highest quality in supplementation and nutrition. I dived in and read everything I could find on the importance of feeding your cells and the latest in nutritional science. I was hooked and driven to educate others on this powerful truth... healthy cells mean healthy bodies and happier lives. Fast forward 14 years and I have now helped thousands with improved health and how to create an additional income by helping others with their own health goals. My belief in my beloved company of choice USANA Health Sciences has grown by leaps and bounds. I have seen lives improved over the years. There is no better feeling than standing behind a vision that is bigger than yourself. What’s your story? What is that one thing you long to do everyday?

Our Liver Support supplement is a great “support” to use along our probiotic.⠀ ⠀ “I've been taking the probiotic, liver support, and candida cleanse for the past month or so ... I'm starting to have much more consistent energy throughout the day (no post-lunch slump! ) and I'm not tired as often. I used to have regular headaches and I feel like these are helping (in combination with daily yoga and a better diet ). My gut health seems much improved, too, and I'm feeling much more "regular." Excited to see if it keeps up!” - K.K.⠀ ⠀ “I have been taking the candida cleanse 2 weeks after beginning first the liver support then probiotic. My hope is that my rosacea and candida will improve. It's quite early to tell yet but I am noticing small improvements in these conditions. I do have renewed energy and clearer thinking.” - B.H.

Eating right doesn’t have to be complicated. You don’t always have to prepare some fancy shmancy bowl or creation. Easy to whip up something in minutes rather than eating something already packaged and prepared! 👩‍🍳 • • This is a great example that took me less than 5️⃣ minutes to combine. Using already made #hummus ( @healthtrition recipe ) , leftover @explorecusine fettuccine from dinner the night before topped with house-made wild smoked/cured salmon (lox ) and added in a side of fresh salad (tomatoes 🍅 , cucumbers 🥒,mixed onions 🧅 , green pepper , avocado 🥑 + drizzled with spices + lemon 🍋 ) - I had the perfect combination of healthy fats, carbohydrates and proteins of which is considered a “healthy” meal. • • The protein comes from hummus (chickpeas = awesome plant protein ) and from the wild cured salmon (perfect animal protein ) as well as the @explorecuisine fettuccine pasta 🍝 (24g/ serving ) • The healthy fats come from the avocado 🥑 in the salad 🥗, the cured salmon 🐠 and the tahini in the hummus 🍲 • The essential carbohydrates are found in @explorecusine fettuccine 🍝 and in the hummus (chickpeas! ) 🍲 • • Healthy does not mean “low-carb, fat-free or low-fat”- healthy means eating FOR YOUR HEALTH. It means including all the right types of macronutrients in your meals in order to help your body function at its optimal capacity. Taking away essential nutrients and vitamins coming from these sources can result in a decreased immune system which in turn difficulty preventing the risk of chronic illnesses. Don’t be afraid of them, just know the differences between the types you’re eating! • • #realfood #f52 #functionalmedicine #preventativehealth #preventativemedicine #preventionisbetterthancure #foodismedicine #health #healthy #healthyeating #easyhealthyrecipes #healthymeals #wellness #diseaseprevention #coronaviruspandemic #knowledge #knowyouringredients #nutrition #nutritionistapproved #nutritionist #clinicalnutrition #clinicalnutritionist #nutritionhelp #nutrients #nutrientdense #loxlife #howtoeat #foodismypassion #healthiswealth 🌳💰💯

When it comes to capitalizing the energy stored in food, you need B vitamins. Sea moss contains a decent amount of riboflavin (B2 ) and folate (B9 ). Riboflavin is needed to break down proteins, carbs, and fats, while folate is needed to form DNA and other genetic material. When folate pairs up with B12, it also helps to create red blood cells. Which improve your energy level. Shop Now: www.seamossgummies.com . . . #alkaline #vegan #drsebi #detox #102minerals #cellularnutrition #eattolive #healingfoods #healthyeating #healthylifestyle #herbalmedicine #seamoss#bladderwrack #seamossbenefits #burdockroot #seavegetable #irondeficiency #cellularrejuvenation #mucusfreefood #fluseason #diseaseprevention #veganbenefits #alkalinevegan #alkalinediet #immunityboost #electricfoods #seamossgel #seamossgummies #irishmoss #irishmossbenefits

This is my friend, Jenna Huttula... she has such an amazing story of health restoration! . “I am 43, married 25 years to my high school sweetheart Kenny - we found something we’re really good at 🙂 making babies!! 💕❤️💕. . We have 7!! From 20 years old to 4 years old. For probably the last 13 years I struggled with my weight, I jumped on the diet band wagons that flew around for years but they never worked for me. . I’d try the pills, the drops, the extreme diets, the calorie counting carb counting stuff, the points... you name it!!!! I tried it!! This crazy cycle wreaked havoc on my system and caused hormonal imbalances, gut issues, and ultimately I ended up being diagnosed with hashimotos, hypothyroidism, and auto immune disease in 2016. . Which would finally explain why I lost all of my hair and ended up going bald too- yep I have pictures to prove it. 😳🤪 . I heard about Plexus from one of my best friends - she shared with me and I started researching . I had no clue so many of my struggles were tied to gut health, balancing blood sugars and fighting inflammation! . I was desperate to feel better - so at 41 in Dec 2018 I gave it it a shot! . I seriously hoped it would work since I had tried everything else. . IT DID!! . In my first month I lost 4 inches and tons of inflammation, I was using the bathroom again, and my hair started growing back too! . With the extra energy I had I didn’t need naps everyday either - and it only got better and better. . Almost 18 months into my journey I’ve lost 65 pounds now, went from a 14-16 to a size 4! . My auto immune disease is gone! . My thyroid is normal and my hormones are in check! . And I’m not on any prescription medications anymore!!! . And ALL of my hair has grown back and I feel better at 43 than I ever did at 33 and to be honest probably 23! . That whole LIE that it’s just downhill after 40 is a bunch of crap y’all!!! . It’s doesn’t have to be! . The best is yet to come!”— Jenna

HEART DISEASE High blood pressure is a major risk factor for heart disease and stroke. It damages the lining of the arteries, making them more susceptible to building up of plaque, which narrows the arteries leading to the heart and brain. High LDL cholesterol can also double a person’s risk of heart disease. That’s because excess cholesterol can build up in the walls of arteries and limit blood flow to a person’s heart, brain, kidneys, other organs and legs. People can improve their blood pressure and cholesterol levels by eating a healthy diet. People who are overweight or have obesity, compared to those at a normal weight, are at increased risk of heart disease and stroke and their risk factors, including high blood pressure, high LDL cholesterol, low HDL cholesterol, high triglycerides, and type 2 diabetes. A healthy diet emphasizes fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins and limits saturated and trans fat, added sugars, and sodium. Not getting enough physical activity can also lead to heart disease even after no other risk factors. Include the following to your daily diet ✅ fruits and vegetables ✅ lean meat ✅ skinless poultry ✅ nuts, beans, and legumes ✅ fish(not more than 2 servings per week ) ✅ whole grains ✅ plant-based oils, such as olive oil ✅ low-fat dairy products ✅ eggs (up to 6 per week ) A small change in lifestyle which includes physical activity and diet can help a long way to maintain a healthy body and mind. Naturally at term, babies usually have a raised level of bilirubin. This results to a jaundiced appearance. The more preterm the baby is, the more significant this is. At birth, fetal haemoglobin is destroyed which the baby then naturally replaces with its own red blood cells. However, the destruction of fetal haemoglobin result in the increase of bilirubin. New borns already have a very immature liver which can not deal with this high level of bilirubin. There is also a reduced protein binding ability in neonates, which in itself adds to the problem by resulting in an increased level of free bilirubin. A further problem is that the blood brain Barrier in new borns is not fully formed. Therefore, high levels of bilirubin poses a threat as it can cross this barrier and cause a potentially fatal disease called KERNICTERUS. Phototherapy exposure to narrow-spectrum blue fluorescent tube light can be used to detoxify the bilirubin and convert it to a more water-soluble form which can be excreted in the bile. This allows blood levels to decrease quickly. This therapy is less effective in adults, as the skin is thicker. . . . . . . . . . #Medicinestudent #medicinestudent #heath #healthcare #medicine #surgeon #diseaseprevention #disease #drugs #studentlife #studymedicine #medstud #medschoollife #medschool #medicalstudent #preregister #pharmacyschool #pharmacy #studygram #medicalschool #sciencefacts #pharmacystudent #skeletal #muscle #physiology #musculoskeletal #neonatologia #neonate #newborn #newborns

🔆 10-15minutes of sunshine is equivalent to 10,000 IU of vitamin D! (That’s why it’s called the sunshine vitamin 😅 ) 💊 In my practice I often recommend taking supplemental vitamin D, however if you can get it naturally that is ALWAYS preferable and more easily absorbed by the body. 👉🏽Here is why Vit.D is important; • Strong bones: by regulating calcium/phosphorus absorption. • Immune: you can not heal from any disease with low levels of vitamin D! It is an important component of the immune system. • Blood sugar: helps to regulate blood sugar and prevent diabetes. • Blood pressure: low levels of vitamin D are associated with hypertension. • Weight loss: Vitamin D is a precursor to testosterone, which helps with building muscle and burning fat. Studies show babies born with mothers who are deficient are more likely to develop early onset obesity! • Depression: as a neuropsych student, this one is pretty relevant! The journal of neuropsychology found a significant relationship between low levels of vitamin D and depression. • Cancer: Vit.D can prevent some cancers including colorectal, breast, prostate and pancreatic. 💊 If you cant get outside I recommend taking @canprev vitamin D drops (1 drop is 1000IU, which is the daily recommended dose ) - if you have a specific disease the dose will change, so work with a professional or DM me if you have any questions! - In general : take 1 drop with DINNER! 🔆 #vitamind #health #disease #diseaseprevention #bonehealth #cancer #mentalhealth #depression #weightloss #hypertension #bloodpressure #diabetes #nutrition #nutritionist #weightloss #weightlosstransformation #diet #nutrients #healing #foodismedicine #sunshine #summer #getoutside #nature #natural #naturalremedies

We had a lot of people ask about these special pizzas we posted 🍕 it was a customised order for a customer who has Lupus and basically can only eat as close to raw and plant based foods as possible. We made the base with cauliflower and almond flour, oven baked all the vegetables, used pure cashews and nutritional yeast for the cream cheese, roasted garlic and fresh herbs for flavour and a whole lotta Love 💕 making sure the following strict guidelines were met: ✅ vegan ✅ oil free ✅ salt free ✅ sugar free ✅ soy free ✅ gluten free ✅ refined flour free We try our best to cater to all people when it comes to individual diets due to health reasons. With that being said our Healthy Pizzas are now available on pre order 🥰 Some of you might be aware of Lupus a debilitating autoimmune disease where it attacks its own healthy tissues affecting the skin, blood cells, joints, kidneys, brain, heart and lungs. Certain foods and environmental factors can trigger Lupus causing it to become way worse and frequent hospital visits. But with a healthy high nutrient plant based diet staying away from meat, dairy, eggs, highly processed foods, refined sugars, refined flours it is possible and safe to if not reverse the disease but help reduce the symptoms. If you would like to know more about lupus and the advantages a plant based diet has to offer please support and follow @lupus_forums #lupusawareness #plantbaseddiets #diseasereversal #diseaseprevention #vegan #cleaneating #autoimmunedisease

Just a ginormous salad! The entire base is micro greens...kohlrabi, broccoli, cabbage, alfalfa, lacinto and red russian kale, clover, cilantro, cress, pea shoots and sunflower! The nutrition in these little green miracles is just incredible! I love that they grow quickly and that if I keep them watered they will last for the entire week and we can just cut from them fresh daily. If you have a spare room or spare counter space or room anywhere and you can grow some of these, I highly recommend it! Even if you just grow one tray, and you can grow them in pretty much any container too, I’ve grown them in the plastic container grapes come in before!
