Do you like running (or fast walking )? Believe it or not, but your body can become super fit without pushing the intensity, and I am on a mission for the rest of my life to prove it. Our running group is not about hard running, just easy and fun for the all to join in. Come and join me, either in person or join me virtually from anywhere in Australia (especially our outer-state clients ) with a smiling photo of you at the end of your run and a #(hashtag ) of #morrismethod . We would love to see all clients near and far participate and enjoy the community aspect while striving towards your own individual goals. It is not all about pace and smashing yourself and by no means is it a competition. Our first run will be held this Friday 25th September 5:45am. We will meet at Harold West Reserve Carlingford and begin the run from there. If you are joining us virtually be sure to “snap” your selfie and post it with the #morrismethod . You do not need to complete this at 5:45am if completing it virtually, it can be done anytime on Friday. If you are not a runner and would prefer to walk, you can still participate as we would love as many people as possible involved, and after all its about your goals, not someone else’s. Who is in? Training for an endurance sport and carrying more weight than you should? Two big key elements I see many people get wrong: 1. Frequently incorrect training intensity will exacerbate your hunger and cravings. 2. Placing the training plan in front of your nutritional plan as top priority = ❌ Quality and quantity of your diet will always trump the training program if you are carrying more weight than you should be. Question is, will you focus and act (key word is “act” ) on what actually is needed for you to move forward? My sis has got herself dialled in. Want to have more energy throughout the day, lose some weight and keep it off? If you are getting smashed by a trainer or smashing yourself within some fitness class or group to try and get these results, you are going in the completely wrong direction. Using a HIIT class or something like this is not the tool to be used. Reach out for a conversation if you are trying your very best and training weekly but yet still can’t get daily s energy and the weight loss you want/deserve. #morrismethod

It will be Carlingford/Cherrybrook based locations involving: - Track work - Road running - Occasional trail running There will be different focuses each fortnight for all to work on. A huge thank you to our supporter Lorna Stanger, from Caithness, for raising an incredible £5,142 to help people living with cancer find their best way through. Lorna endured a jaw-dropping duathlon, running and cycling 755-miles over five days - starting from her home, running from Thurso to Inverness and cycling the famous North Coast 500. Wow! 😮 The original plan of running back to Thurso after cycling the North Coast 500 had to be changed, due to a knee injury. Determined to finish the challenge as planned, Lorna ran from Inverness to Thurso covering 112 miles in one day, only two weeks after completing the duathlon 🚲 🏃‍♀️ Covering the 755 miles of remote landscape, Lorna certainly wasn't alone. She was cheered on by friends, family and car horns tooting in support. Lorna is pictured here in our Macmillan greens: "Wearing my Macmillan t-shirt made a huge difference. I was stopped by passers-by wanting to donate, which was incredible.' We would like to say a BIG thank you to Lorna, her support team and everyone who donated. Do you ever use the compounding effect as part of your goals in life? The compound effect is the strategy of reaping huge rewards from small, seemingly insignificant actions. We will come back to this. Now take these two quotes: Consistency is the key to success. Consistency leads to habits. Habits form the actions we take every day. Action leads to success. As Anthony Robbins said, “It’s not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives. Albert Einstein is widely credited with saying, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results. Ever find yourself between these two?, Confused between thoughts in your head thinking “Do I keep pushing forward and something will finally happen?”, or is it “This is ridiculous I have been doing this for so long there must be something wrong with me”. So it’s safe to say a cyclist should cycle to get better at cycling, right? When it comes to fitness, you know you have to be consistent to see progression overtime. Although how and when do know that this consistency is showing little in return, and you are now stuck thinking about Albert Einstein’s quote stating basically it’s crazy to be doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. First ever Duathalon on Tuesday at Gravesend Cyclopark histed by @bridgeeventsdartford . Really pleased with how it went managed to complete the whole race in 1hr 26mins. Second run felt tough but pace was similar to the first one. There is no doubt that producing a stimulus onto the body will usually elicit some sort of response. Positive or negative. Working within a gym, we receive much interest from people seeing all our clients getting results. People wanting and asking questions about training and why they aren't moving forward when they are attending the gym 5-7 days per week. Much of what I see is the lack of specificity with the training program. Additionally what I also notice is that the constant need of "session variety" can really hinder your results. If you are constantly varying the type of stimulus, you are limiting your chances of overreaching in specific movements or adaptations that you are after. What is typically a major issues is the volume or intensity implemented into the program. #morrismethod

New FTP 355w it’s a huge jump from 339w and I’ve got to thank @ant_gritton 💯 but I’ve got a lot to live up to and consolidated. It’s a big jump and for sure I’m going to suffer for the next few weeks to cope with training. Now I’m back running it might help distribute the training load but I doubt it, I suppose I’ve just got to suck it up and get on with it. One thing that came out of this is that I’m better at tolerating prolonged pain and effort rather than the shorter efforts i.e. 5k or 20 min FTP test. My entire time as a fitness professional I have been within the small confined spaces of a four walled gym. Last year I made a business decision to try and help more people struggling like myself (weight loss and endurance events ) and spread my knowledge to a wider audience (online ). To go from one gym, to now multiple clients in multiple states is a statistic that I never thought possible. Just goes to show I guess I’m not the only whom has been struggling with weight loss and endurance training results following the general guidelines. A massive thank you to all my special clients for the hard work you have put into your health and performance and in essence going against the grain in many normal training/nutrition plans. I am forever grateful of the growth we have had since 12 months ago and it’s all thanks to your amazing showcase of results. My first 25mile TT in a DHC Jersey and it’s a 7th place for me! I’m super chuffed to have broken the hour mark in my first TT race. Not sure how I managed 352w Avg that may possibly be a new FTP 🤷‍♂️ Still, it’s all about speed and although I’ve worked hard in my training, made modifications on my bike and significantly gained confidence in the aero position over that last few weeks. Did my first Ironman Virtual challenge of 1.5km run + 20km ride + 5k run. 🏃‍♀️🚴‍♀️ And in exciting news I got a bike. 🤗 I took up indoor cycling after I was having problems with my hip and my physiotherapist recommended it as an alternative to running. It was my main form of exercise this winter and I have been waiting for bike shops to reopen so that I could get myself a bike and take this new adventure outside. I haven’t been on a bike since high school 30 some years ago 😬 so I was a little bit nervous but it all came back to me and I had fun on some muddy trails. Hubby and my son got new bikes as well so we can hopefully do more rides as a family. Looking forward to exploring new paths and seeing how I do. I’ve been running so long I don’t have photos of a non running life. I do however have photos of myself running at a time when I did not know how to take care of myself. That face is the face of agony and pain. This was 8 years ago at my junior year cross country conference championships. With the help of a strong running community and personal research I learned how to be a better endurance athlete. • With the gyms closed I encourage those of you who don’t run to try it! The more you do it the easier it gets. I do admit that not everyone is able to run. Thanks for reminding me why I love being part of #teamtrot .... Join us for the next race! #Repost @trailracingovertexas with @repostapp ・・・ Our #TBT or #throwbackthursday is to last years San Felipe Shootout. The rain came the days leading up to the race and the Brazos River which is on the bank started to swell the day before the race. By race morning we had re-routed some of the course and the water rose all day from higher areas. By days end the water was chest high and the first TROT duathalon was born.
