Thursday vibe...unfiltered. Dumbbell clean and squat... a great exercise to hit the arms, legs and core. Squeeeeeeze that core, chief. Barbell bent over Rows. Works the shoulder and back musculature. Keep your back straight when bent over; avoid curving your back. Hold your core tight. Incline chest press... hits the upper pectoral muscles and core. Squeeeeeze that core again. Use a nice steady pace; time under tension is key. How did you get started in fitness? ⁠ ⁠ I first started in fitness by reading my Dad's "Encyclopedia of a Bodybuilder" by Arnold Schwarzenegger. I read it cover to cover probably around age 13 and then I started to pay closer attention to the actual exercises my second time through. My father had an old school weight set so I just started copying the exercise techniques from the book and my body responded in a positive way. After that I was hooked and I have spent the last 18 years in the health/fitness industry. ⁠ ___⁠ 2. What’s the biggest fitness “myth” you hear or see people doing everyday?⁠ ⁠ That a gym is necessary- I think gyms are great in terms of equipment variety and socialization but you can workout at home with about $200 worth of stuff. I have made thousands of workouts just using dumbbells, bands, and bodyweight exercises and have made rock stars out of my clients with these implements alone. ⁠ ⁠ ___⁠ 3. If you could pick only five exercises to do, what would they be?⁠ ⁠ Pushups, Pullups, Renegade row +/- pushup, Jump rope, Running⁠ ⁠ ___⁠ 4. What advice would you give to others just starting on their fitness journey?⁠ ⁠ Give yourself time. You may have one big goal but take time to recognize the small achievements that happen along the way (my face is thinner, a co-worker said I looked healthy, I went down a pant size, my neck is smaller, I can jog a mile faster, etc )⁠ ⁠ ___⁠ 5. Outside of fitness—what are your favorite hobbies, activities, or things you enjoy doing?⁠ ⁠ I love spending time with my wife and two boys. I enjoy reading, listening to podcasts, playing basketball, boxing and working on different business interests.
