I had an appointment today with pain management, where a lot kind of happened. • I got told some news that I don't know how to cope with. • I got took off gabapentin, and started on lyrica. (which i hope gives me less side effects ) • I will not be going back to PT as of right now, because the doctor and me agreed there is nothing they can do for me. I'll continue with the home exercise program I've had for 5-6 years. • we got an extremely tentative treatment plan set up for me. Day 🏃‍♂️ 1320 A lesson learned tonight... Stick to a tshirt 👕 when it's 22° and 🔥 even after 12am 🕛!! 😂... decided to tie it round my neck while running and actually felt quite "cool" it was like a cape (as in trendy / not the temperature )... 🦸‍♂️😎 Apart from the Run in Bangkok, Thailand 🇹🇭 late at night in 2017 that was definitely the hottest and stuffiest late night run 🏃‍♂️ ive had in the streak so far. At one stage today the car 🚗 said it was 35° 🔥🌡😬!! Im not sure it actually got that hot 🤔 but goodness me it was hot today and anyone that ran 👟 in that... Take a Bow 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🙏🏻 After deciding to miss a random Where Am I Running Wednesday running today I worked out it was 41 hours ⌚ since the end of the previous days run (7am 🕖 ) at the starting point 12am 🕛 ) today.. it's good to have a long rest and almost feel like I've had a day off (I slept well last night 😉 ) and my knee really did need it too, tonight felt just okay.. still there but not anywhere near as bad as it was at the weekend.. Randomly tonight I almost tied one of my shoe laces before putting both trainers 👟 on first... at that point I realised that every time I put them on before running I make sure both are on before I tie either. 𝘼𝙉𝙆𝙇𝙀 𝙈𝙊𝘽𝙄𝙇𝙄𝙏𝙔 & 𝙆𝙉𝙀𝙀 𝙁𝙐𝙉𝘾𝙏𝙄𝙊𝙉⁣ ⁣ 📖 Read below to see why your ankle mobility can be limiting your quad strength and/or contributing to knee pain⁣ ⁣ 🦵🏼 The ability of the knee to track over the toes when performing movements like squatting, lunging, landing, and much more hinges on how strong your quad is in addition to how much mobility you have in the front of your ankle⁣ ⁣ 🦴 In order for the tibia (large shin bone ) to translate forward, your talocrural (ankle ) joint as to be mobile enough to decrease the angle between the top of your foot and the shin⁣ ⁣ 😬 When this doesn’t happen, the stress gets placed on the front of the knee or on the calf/plantar fascia, which can create some issues up and down the chain. Also, this is often why some people can’t get deep into knee bending without their heel wanting to pop up off the ground⁣ ⁣ ❌ Check out the first video. Notice how when @tayokada tries to drive her knee forward, the left heel can’t stay on the ground. Also, you’ll notice that she hits a point where she can’t go forward anymore and then has no choice but to shift her weight backwards⁣ ⁣ ‼️ Then watch video 2. I put her on a slant board to start her in more plantar flexion, which is the opposite direction. By doing this, I’m “cheating” by giving her more motion to go through before she hits her end range. ⚜️📖TERAPIA FÍSICA V/S INYECCIÓN DE CORTICOIDES PARA OSTEOARTRITIS DE RODILLA📖⚜️ 👉🏼La osteoartritis de rodilla es una de las causas más comunes de discapacidad, cuyo manejo se ve limitado principalmente al control de síntomas y en etapas posteriores al reemplazo de la articulación de la rodilla. 👉🏽Para la evaluación de resultados à se utilizó el cuestionario de capacidad funcional para la artrosis WOMAC la cual evalúa en 3 aspectos, dolor, función física y rigidez. 👉🏼Resultados: La terapia física redujo el dolor y mejoró la función en el plazo de un año en comparación con la inyección de corticoides. RUNNING + KNEE PAIN 🏃🏽‍♂️🦵🏽 After a live Q&A with @ultraxco last week, a question came up that is one I get asked a lot by MBP clients, and one I see often discussed amongst various running circles. “𝗜 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗸𝗻𝗲𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗿𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝗜 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀?” Let’s first consider the role of the knee joint ➡️ A hinge joint acting as a mediator for the load absorbed or produced by the ankle or hip. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗸𝗻𝗲𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 + 𝗿𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 The biomechanics of running may leave the knee joint open to excessive loading. If there is weakness in the surrounding structures, the body will find a way to highlight it - this is usually where movement dysfunction occurs. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗱𝗼 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗸𝗻𝗲𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻? Get strong! 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆. Do your joints have sufficient function/active range of movement to run? Try these simple drills to test: - Joint controlled articular rotations (CARs ) - Knee to wall test - Single leg box step down - Single leg calf raise (from step ) 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴.
