Nina stays really consistent with her ‘Dig Out 30’ workouts, she often gets two workouts in each week depending on her working week. ⚓ . It’s this consistency and dedication that has got Nina to a really good level of fitness and as a coach I can expand upon the type and level of workout to offer up to her. . Nina’s latest workout was as follows: 4 exercises 5 rounds 30 sec work - 20 sec rest - 60 sec rest in between rounds. Kettlebell Deadlifts (12kg each side ) Slam Ball (10kg ) Resistance Band Back Rows (Med ) Assault Bike . I introduced Nina to a basic Resistance Band exercise in the form of Back Rows. This simple piece of kit is superb at providing a great all over body conditioning workout. Due to its size and weight you can take it on your travels too and I’ve often threw it into a bag to take on holiday with me. . The beauty of a band is that it keeps its resistance when you stretch and release its tension meaning the muscle is constantly worked throughout the move you’re performing. . Now that gyms are up and running again, its a great opportunity for you all to give Swallow the Anchor a visit. ⚔️WHAT MAKES A GREAT PROGRAM 👉 THOUGHTFUL - Random workouts give you random outcomes. You need to know specifically where you’re going to make an effective plan to get there. 👉 INDIVIDUALIZED - every plan should have YOU in mind. You are unique and therefore, your program should be too. Your coach needs to take a look at where you’re starting from, and where you’ve been - otherwise you will just be guessing and crossing your fingers. 👉 PROGRESSIVE - it should get slightly harder each week 👉 CONSISTENT - you should be working in similar movement patterns and exposing the body to similar stressors so that it can properly adapt and improve. 👉 VARIED - While consistency is important, VARIANCE is one of the most important aspects of staying motivated and making regular exercise a habit. This keeps you excited to see what's coming up for you. A great exercise program needs to be REPETITIVE enough so that you can build strength and skill within a specific movement BUT varied enough so that you never get bored or plateau. It's a tough needle to thread. Not only are you unique in your ability, experience, balances and imbalances, but you're also unique in your age, location, equipment (especially right now ), time available to train, and enjoyment of training and endless other factors that will affect how your program is built.
