Is anyone studying for the nclex? I find it difficult to study with a lot of resources in front me and I hate wasting my time reading thousands of pages. So instead of using textbooks as my resource, I used this NCLEX cram sheet by nurselabs. This cram sheet is amazing. It basically outlines some tips to help you be a better test taker for the nclex, it includes the necessary lab values you need to know for the exam, provides you pharmacology drug classes, educates you on cultural safety and more! Go check out their link: https://nurseslabs.com/nclex-cram-sheet/ . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #nclex #nclextips #nclexstudying #nursingmentorship #nursingstudent #rn #nclexprep #nclexreview #nclexpreparation #nclexstudyguide #nclexstudyhelp #nclex2020 #nclexrn #nclexpass #studentnurse #nursinglife #studying #exams #medical #nclexcram

𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐬. 💉 The dreadful word nurses and parents try not to say to our little ones. As a nurse, getting ready to give a shot consists of being prepared prior to entering the room, gathering rewards, and bringing in some backup! Am I right!? (never trust a 5 year old who says he won’t move 🤨😂 ) But it doesn’t have to be such an awful experience! I’ve gathered some helpful tips on how to make pediatric injections less traumatic while still promoting safety and trust. 𝟏. 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮💉 To most children the idea of an injection is the scariest part of a doctors visit. Many of them walk through the door trying to bargain their way out of a potential shot. Providing the child with an age- appropriate explanation as to why they are receiving the shot is key. Younger children can believe the reason they are getting a shot is because they’ve been bad and are being punished. Explaining that the medication will actually make them feel better and keep them healthy is very important. 𝟐. 𝐁𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐭💉 As they say, honesty is the best policy. There is a misconception that what someone doesn’t know, won’t hurt them. Oh, but it will and with that, you will also lose their trust. If asked, it’s okay to say that the shot will hurt for a quick moment and then it will be over. I usually say “it’s like a quick little mosquito bite!” Honesty will promote trust later on when you tell them something doesn’t hurt. 𝟑. 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭💉 Allow the child to hold something that makes them feel safe and provides comfort such as a doll or even their parents hand. Stepping it up for younger kids, have their parents hug them while you give the shot (this is totally do-able depending on the position of the patient. 𝙒𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙖 𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨? 𝙡𝙚𝙩 𝙢𝙚 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙗𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙬! ) 𝟒. 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞 & 𝐑𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝💉 Once the shot is over, let the patient know that you are all done. Praise the child for doing such a great job and reward his good behavior. Applying a bandaid will also calm some pts. ✨NEVER give medication in the play room. They need to know there are places where they can feel completely safe.

1 Day of Clinical Down and 41 more to go. My first day was busy, fun, and exhausting! Chileee my feet were hurting something bad, I came home and took a nap as soon as I got off Zoom. ⁣ ⁣ A patient asked me if I was a nurse or student. I told her I was a student and she congratulated me and said she knows that I’ll do good. Lol, not a patient trying to get me to crying on my first day lml. So grateful and humbled by this experience. ⁣ ⁣ Tomorrow I begin taking care of a patient on my own (for the most part ). I’m really out here being a health care provider, whew.⁣ ⁣ #NurseQuoia #FutureMidwife #BSNLoading

V U L N E R A B I L I T Y ; noun - the quality or state of being exposed to the possibility of being attacked or harmed, either physically or emotionally. I’m sharing this because I know I am not the only one. I’m sharing it because I know it does not define me, the success I will find within this career or my ability to provide exceptional, safe nursing care. I’m sharing it because of the shame I felt when I received this email. Amidst all of the posts about my colleagues becoming RN’s, I got this. I’m sharing this because I want to tell whoever needs to hear it that this is not the end. I’m sharing this knowing that people will talk about it and I am trying to prove to myself that it doesn’t matter. They can talk as if it has anything to do with them. I am okay with the fact that I failed. I am okay with the fact that the hard work I put in to prepare could not defeat the anxiety that I struggle to manage. I am sharing this to say that if you fail your NCLEX (or anything else ) I am with you, and we will be better because of it. #newblog #nclexrn #vulnerability #failure #chanceforgrowth #selfdevelopment #dontgiveup #youarenotalone #iamwithyou #nclexexam #testanxiety #honestyispower #noshame #shameless #nurselife #instablogger #nurseblog #newnursesupport #nursesinspirenurses #realtalk #shameless #resilience #courage #ambition #betterlucknexttime #cantstopwontstop #restdontquit #nursesofinsta

Some of you might be wondering if your USA license will be valid for life? Or until when is the validity of your license? Your USA license is valid forever. It expires within 2 to 3 years (this depends on which Board, but generally the validity is within 2 years ). It is the same as with our PRC license/ home country license that you just need to renew before it expires. Is there a specific timeframe that you need to be in the USA to maintain the validity of your license? None. Even you are still outside of the USA, your license can be active all the time. Better to keep it active because it is more costly to renew an expired license, delinquent, or if you are required to have a license reinstatement. ____ You can check the validity of your license through www.nursys.com. If you need an assistance for your license renewal, send us a message. We are more than willing to assist you. 😊 #nclexrn #AXIS #nclexexam #nclexopportunity #NCLEX #nclexstudy #nepalinurses #nclexprep #nclexreview

Have you seen #MalignantHyperthermia ? Today, Im lucky to be a part of the team that managed this crisis in the OR. Malignant Hyperthermia is a severe reaction to certain drugs used for anesthesia. The severe reaction typically includes a dangerously high body temperature, tachycardia, and increased end tidal CO2 (hypercapnia ). Without prompt treatment, it can be fatal. It’s not everyday that you get to administer dantrolene sodium to a patient, it’s not everyday you get to put ice packs all over your patient just to cool them down, start lines, foley, and draw blood all at once. You dont get to see MH all the time(maybe once or twice in 10-20years ) thats why today is one for the books!! We got it all under control and finished the procedure. 😉 I’m so proud of the OR I work in and the amazing people I work with. An eventful day, indeed! . . #malignanthyperthermia #emergency #circulatingnurse #operatingroom #nursing #perioperative #ORnurse #dantrolenesodium #nurse #anesthesia #ORnurselife #nclex #nclexrn #nclexhelp #intraopcare #criticalcare

Critical care nurse Sarah Craig is an assistant professor at our nursing school and director of the Clinical Nurse Leader program. This spring, the coronavirus forced the cancellation of NCLEX practice exams. The NCLEX is the exam that nurses take to become licensed, so these practice tests are essential. Sarah sprang into action and enlisted colleagues to help her create her own practice test. The test is pretty close to the real thing and includes structure to help students understand their mistakes. As NCLEX testing slowly begins ramping up again this summer, after months on hiatus, Sarah says her support’s not going away. “Every summer we’re here for you,” she said, “but this summer, we want to especially be here for you.” . . . @UVASchoolofNursing #TeamTuesday #UVA #UVANursing #uvahealth #nclex #nclexrn

Friends in Nursing School 🩺 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There's nothing more special then going through something with people who completely understand every aspect of the process. I spent two years studying for countless hours at starbucks, sharing food, crying, encouraging, & laughing with these girls. Having them by my side during nursing school made the process a little more bearable. I will always cherish the friendship we have created ✨ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For any pre-nursing or current online nursing students who are worried about not making friends during nursing school... don't worry you will make friends. Once everyone is able to go back to campus you will see how much time you spend with your cohort. You will eventually find your study group & you will eventually find your people. For those of you who got through nursing school already I'm sure that you agree. Tag your nursing school bestie/ nursing bestie down below to show them some love 🤍⬇️
