💕These last four and a half months have changed me a lot... as a nurse and as a person. Working in a pandemic has been heartbreaking, painful, and scary. It’s also forced so much changed, both in me and in all American healthcare workers. I’ve been very overwhelmed by the stress and anxiety of this pandemic. As a nurse, it’s been my life for a while. 💕 ⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️ 💕I understand that everyone is tired of talking about it. The news is tired of talking about how many people are sick. People are tired of staying home and feeling isolated. We are all tired of wearing masks. I get it. We all want to move on and focus on the future. There are less news segments about the virus, things are starting to open up, and we all want to get back to our lives. 💕 ⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️ 💕 I really wish our country could be reminded that there are people still fighting this battle. As our numbers continue to surge, here on the West Coast (and in the South ) all of us healthcare workers continue to prepare for the worst. As a group, we are so tired. We’re tired from working 50-60 hour weeks to help out the hospital. We’re tired of calling families at 2am to tell them their father passed. We’re tired of spouses saying goodbye through the window one last time. There are hundreds of thousands of families mourning their loved ones. There are many more who battling the virus, not knowing what the future holds. 💕 ⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️ 💕 Who is willing to join me on a mission this week?! I’m going to make extra time in my week to hold specific people and groups in my thoughts and prayers (or good vibes ). This includes: healthcare workers, first responders, hospital patients, and the families of all these groups. Do you know anyone who is still being directly affected by the pandemic? 💕 ⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️ #nursesinspirenurses #nurseblogger #nursesunite #nursebabes #nurselifern #prettypractice #nursebaes #womeninhealthcare #nursesofinstagram #stetholifestyle #positivevibes #nightshiftnurse #nightshiftlife #blogginggals #bloggerbabe #thinkpink #ihavethisthingwithpink #pinkstagram #inspiremyinstagram #glitterguide #theeve

15,300 . 15,300 . 15,300 . July 12, 2020 is a record breaking day for Florida for new coronavirus cases. 15,300 new cases in 1 day. This is no joke. . Please take care of yourself. Would you rather be in the ICU fighting for your life or wear a mask, social distance 6 feet from others, and stay home? . Mask mandates do not infringe on your freedom. Freedom to breathe? We say wear masks so you stop spreading covid19 and kill people. People have a right to life. Please respect lives by wearing a mask, 6 feet apart social distancing, and stay home if you don't need to go out. All these infections make the lockdowns earlier this year good for nothing. . Seeing this number makes me angry because too many people died from this already and seeing it first hand in the ICU on the regular. . This is not a joke people. . As long as people don't listen to precautions to stay safe during the pandemic, this will not end anytime soon . . . #nursing #nurse #nurselife #nursinglife #nurselifern #nursinglifern #rn #lpn #healthcare #blogger #nurseblogger #bloggernurse #scrubs #scrublife #proudnurse #borntobeanurse #nursesbelike #thenursingbloc #rnlife #registerednurse #coronavirus #corona #rona #covid19 #covid_19 #pandemic #2020

Case of a patient who got his hand stuck in an animal feed blender/shredder!! The hand could not be salvaged and the patient ended up requiring a below the elbow amputation at the level of the wrist (wrist disarticulation ). Unfortunately not much is known about the patient outcomes other than this was the primary presentation of his injury. However, in similar situations, a surgeon would likely seek to amputate the hand, as reconstruction would be extremely difficult. @medizzy ⬆️ @_thenursesway_ Please please Tag your Nursing buddies, batchmates and share our account @_thenursesway_ . Deep hand laceration wound getting a precise suturing job! This 18-year-old man was working in a tobacco factory when he sustained a deep laceration injury to the right hand by a sharp edge cutting machine while packing. He was brought to the hospital within 1 hour. His examination revealed no bony fractures, luckily with all pulses present and with no neurological deficit. Wound exploration was done under nerve block and the primary suturing result is shown above! A laceration is a wound that is produced by the tearing of soft body tissue by a sharp object or by impact injury from a blunt object or force. This type of wound is often irregular, jagged, and is contaminated with bacteria and debris from whatever object caused the cut. Severe lacerations may extend through the full thickness of the skin and into subcutaneous tissues, including underlying muscle, internal organs, or bone, and is accompanied by significant bleeding and pain. Sutures, tissue adhesives, staples, and skin-closure tapes are options in the outpatient setting. @medizzy ⬆️ @_thenursesway_ Please please Tag your Nursing buddies, batchmates and share our account @_thenursesway_ . “My daughter does not know life without mommy being in school. A life where I’m not thinking about how many assignments are due instead of playing outside with her, the studying i should be doing instead of playing dolls, the assessments i should be practicing instead of our hikes, the case studies i should be working on instead of laying in her bed because she can’t fall asleep with out me next to her. Sometimes she can sense I’m distracted, or gets upset if i can’t play with her because i have to do homework. “Mommy why do you always have to do homework?” has come out of her mouth countless times in these last 5 years. There have been many times i have chosen school as my first priority because i know, in the long run, it will show Addison that giving her the best life was my most important goal. I have missed countless family get togethers, friends birthdays, concerts, vacations, holidays, dinners, hangouts.. pretty much anything you can think of i have missed over the last 5 years because nursing school takes over your life. If you have never been through nursing school, you will never understand the sacrifices, dedication, blood sweat and tears that goes into becoming a nurse. You have to eat sleep and breathe nursing. You learn every part of the human body head to toe, how it normally functions, what can go wrong with it, what signs and symptoms there are when it’s not functioning, what to do about it, and how that can make 100 other things go wrong. You learn medications, skills, laws, policies, equipment, definitions, interventions, assessments. You learn to think like a nurse. 24/7. It’s not something you can turn off. It becomes who you are. A nurse. There were times i didn’t think i would make it through school. But i did. I am a graduate nurse, soon to be RN. I can’t wait to start my career and my life. I worked so hard for this, I’m so proud of this, I’m so happy to be a nurse ❤️” - . . 🙏 Follow us @funnest_nurse for daily post 🏍 Thanks: @nurse_org ═══════════════════════ #nursejackie #nursesonduty #nursesweek #nurselove #nurseinprogress #fitnurse #nurselifern #nursesdoitbetter #nursewife #iamproudtobeanurse #nightshift #nursinghome

I took the first photo almost exactly 8 months ago when I was taking my “before” photos for the brand new test group I was starting.⠀ ⠀ Today things are looking quite different for my “before” photo for my brand new test group my girls and I are jumping into tomorrow! ⠀ ⠀ At the time of the first photo I dove full force into this community and it became my lifeline. We were in the middle of fertility treatment and some days were really freaking hard and it was hard to see that light at the end of the tunnel. I needed this program more than ever and it was the one constant I depended on every day. ⠀ ⠀ Today I stand here 5 months pregnant in awe of the miracle growing inside me. The baby I prayed for day after day after day. ⠀ ⠀ It’s amazing to look back on the past year and see how far you can go when you don’t give up on yourself. And it’s true what they say about these programs and this community, it’ll completely change your life.⠀ ⠀ If you let it. ⠀ ⠀ Click the link in my bio if you’re ready to join me 🤍⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀

𝐓𝐑𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐂𝐄𝐒𝐒 🙌🏽 I remember being a pre-nursing student eagerly waiting to complete my CNA class! It was so exciting to learn how to take vital signs and work alongside nurses! I remember my first ever CNA job in the Burn ICU and how inspired I was by those nurses. The moment I got into nursing school, the day I was floated to NICU, graduating nursing school, passing NCLEX, starting my first day as a NICU RN...I recall each of these moments in my journey! Now, I’m so close to becoming a PNP! One day, many years ago, I dreamed of reaching that goal of becoming a PNP and now I’m here so close to it ❤️ Trust the process, you will get there! Tell me where you are in your journey..I want to hear in the comments below!

GUYS! I just registered for my last year of graduate nursing school and I’m ecstatic. I’m so excited to finally be back at clinicals in the next coming weeks. ⠀ I’ve been nervous about having to wear a mask for 12 HOURS! Sooo... I decided to team up with @HeadButtonBand . They make the cutest button headbands so you don’t put so much stress on your ears. They are life savers... & the best part is, they made a discount code for you all! Use NURSE50 at checkout and you will receive BOGO 50% off. ⠀ I’m so in love! They are so comfy and stretchy (I like to tuck my ears 🐵 so I was so happy it wasn’t at all painful like other headbands ). They also have so many cute colors and patterns! I’m so extra that I can’t wait to wear the headbands to match my badge reel. Don’t miss out guys! 10/10 recommend. ⠀

A lot of people don’t understand the physical and emotional struggles that come with nursing school. It’s something I’m still learning to deal with and some days feel so much heavier than others. (Yesterday being one of them ). Sometimes you have to cry it out. You can vent. You can be lazy. You can take the day to yourself. But DON’T give up. It’s important to have resources in your back pocket that are easily accessible: a mentor, a friend, your favorite self care routine, a workout, a night out, wine, a Netflix marathon, whatever it is, keep it handy because you WILL need it. When you’re in the thick of a meltdown, it’s SO hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. You start doubting yourself and your purpose and your “why”. It feels like you’re losing yourself. You need to know that you are NOT alone. I struggle, too. I struggle A LOT. And I’m still learning how to cope. But the beautiful thing I want you to keep in mind, is that it’s okay to NOT be okay. It’s okay to feel your feelings. It’s okay to doubt yourself. It’s okay to have really shitty days. But you get to go to bed at night knowing that tomorrow you have a fresh start. You get to try again and turn it in to something beautiful.

Here’s how I stay focused during study sessions: 1. ) Eliminating noise and all distractions from my environment. My phone is on do not disturb mode. My internet browser is shut down (unless I absolutely need it ). 2. ) Structuring a work environment. Moving to my desk. Getting into “study mode” having everything laid out, organized and ready to go. 3. ) Clarify your goals BEFORE you sit down to study. Make a to do list. Get organized and know what needs to be done. 4. ) Break large study tasks into bite sized chucks. This is where staying ahead of the game will help you so you don’t have to cram! 5. ) Set reasonable time limits for each goals. Allot yourself enough time to finish what needs to be done. Make sure it’s attainable! 6. ) Be clear about the guidelines for each task. Make sure you’re following instructions, especially for lab reports and care plans. Read this ahead of time! And have it out to reference if you need it. 7. ) Isolate yourself. Homework and initial studying is not meant to be done in groups. This is your time to establish a foundation, and gage where you are with the material. Spend this time alone without any distractions! 8. ) Coffee. Tea. Snacks. Have these ready to go so you don’t make excuses and get distracted while studying. All I can say it, focus focus focus. It’s all mental. Tell yourself you can do it, and sit your butt down and begin. Getting started is the hardest part!

⭐️ Night shifts can be rough. In NYC during the pandemic, nurses were working 14-15 hours a day. When we would finally get back to our rooms it would be 9/10A. Then the unwinding begins and we do it again and again for several days in a row, 42 days. At lunch we would sleep instead of eat since we were tired. This is me and my friend doing cat nap, 15 minutes. 15 minutes felt like several hours and felt great...then we were up and back at it. Please wear your masks friends. 💫
