So how did this calendar fix my work woes?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🗓 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When I made a conscious effort to start looking at my work requirements I found it started to force me to look at my life requirements.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📆 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I started to think about what I wanted to do and achieve. I started to think about what was important to me. Exercise, reading, being outside.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📆 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Find what is important to you- outside of work too. Find your life requirements. Get a calendar, schedule your time and make it happen.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📆 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I find that by writing it out each month it reminds me to do it and it’s a nice visual reminder if I start to slide into old habits.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I use @zandzee__ check them out for life organising inspo.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📆 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #operationrca

𝐅𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐬𝐤 𝐌𝐞? 𝐃𝐫. 𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭, 𝐃𝐍𝐏: 𝐅𝐨𝐥𝐤𝐬 𝐓𝐨 𝐅𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰⠀ ⠀ Happy 4th of July Weekend! Technically, it is only July 3rd but most Americans have already began celebrating the holiday with normal business operations being suspended for the day. Acute care centers and long-term care facilities are not closed but I hope my fellow healthcare providers find a way to safely celebrate Independence Day nonetheless. ⠀ ⠀ As a registered nurse/family nurse practitioner, I am an advocate of advanced practice registered nurses practicing independently to the fullest extent of their education and experience. Many of my nurse practitioner colleagues have decided to do this by becoming private practice owners. If you are seeking advice on opening a clinic, there are many great nurses/nurse practitioners on Instagram that offer sound business advice. So many, that it was difficult to suggest only one person this week! ⠀ ⠀ This week’s suggested “Folks To Follow” selection is NPInTheKnow®️ ( @npintheknow ). She is truly a hidden jewel on social media. Just read the testimonials of nurse practitioners who have taken her business courses for opening a clinic and you will see how brightly her knowledge and insight shines. So, if opening a clinic is on your to-do list in the near future, be sure to follow NPInTheKnow®️ ( @npintheknow )! ⠀ ⠀ #followthem #friday #healthcareprofessional #registerednurse #rn #advancedpracticenurse #aprn #nursepractitioner #nursemidwife #crna #clinicalnursespecialist #privatepractice #nurseowned #npsocial #npschool #dnpstudent #familynursepractitioner #agpcnp #pediatricnursepractitioner #npsofinstagram #advancedpracticenursesofinsta

"Once you take a leap of faith, you will find yourself where you want to be." ▫️ Once you face your fears and fully give yourself permission to try something new, to take a chance and possibly make mistakes, you will find yourself learning new skills and realizing your full potential. ▫️ Once you see your full potential, you start stepping into your greatness by stepping outside your comfort zone. This is where you will experience your biggest growth on a personal level! ▫️ Once you trust your ability to take on new challenges, it means you believe in yourself. It means you feel confident! And the more you do this, the more confident you become and that is truly the best self-love one can give to herself or himself! ▫️ #stepoutsideyourcomfortzone #leapoffaith #faceyourfears #somethingnew #takeachance #takeachanceonyou #makemistakes #learnfromyourmistakes #learnasyougo #learning #growing #growth #growthmindset #personalgrowth #personaldevelopment #selfconfidence #confidence #believeinyourself #selflove #momlife #momof3 #workingmom #busymom #familyfirst #teachingnurses #nursingcareer #nursepractitioner #choosehappiness

5 𝓽𝓲𝓹𝓼 𝓯𝓸𝓻 𝓹𝓪𝓽𝓲𝓮𝓷𝓽 𝓬𝓪𝓼𝓮 𝓹𝓻𝓮𝓼𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓪𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷:⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Now that I’m finished with my general medicine inpatient rotation, I can share some of the projects I did and the feedback I received. Hope it helps! ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 1. Be organized and explain your flow at the beginning. I start with a roadmap of what I will be talking about. For this presentation I started by talking about the patient’s background/disease states, then moved on to guidelines, studies, and recommendations. ⁣⁣ ⁣ 2. Give enough detail to clearly explain your patient without overwhelming the audience. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 3. Research, research, research! Make sure you know the disease state, treatment guidelines, and whether new studies have came out regarding your topic. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 4. If the patient is stable it is ok to say your recommendation is to continue current treatment plan but give alternatives in case a certain treatment is unavailable or if the patient deteriorates. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 5. And most importantly know your patient! Every problem, every treatment, if it worked or not, their course of stay, all of it. You may not necessarily include every single detail in the presentation but definitely know them because preceptors will test your knowledge to see how well you know the patient. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ✨If you have a specific topic from rotations you want me to talk about comment or DM me!✨⁣⁣ .⁣⁣ .⁣⁣ .⁣⁣ .⁣⁣ .⁣⁣ .⁣⁣ #persian #persiangirl #Pharmacist #pharmacisttobe #pharmacistlife #pharmd #pharmacystudent #pharmacyschool #pharmacytechnician #prepharm #nurses #nursingstudent #physicianassistantstudent #physicianassistant #dentist #dentalstudent #medicalstudent #doctors #healthcareheroes #doctorsofinstagram #nursepractitioner #nursepractitionerstudent #premed #clinicalrotations #hospitalrotation #studenttips #tipsforsuccess #docsofamerica #docsofinsta #scrubs ⁣⁣

Some ppl are scared to be near me right now because I do work on a covid unit. It's understandable, and I respect everyone's decision, but to put your fears at bay I received my results yesterday......I'm Negative 🙌🏽......I'm telling you with the PPE shortage we have been beyond blessed, and covered by the blood even though we are consistently exposed. So since I'm negative I'll be looking into my next crisis assignment. Running it up all 2020. Where is the bag at??? 💰 • • #nursepractitioner #nursepractitionerlife #fnp #fnplife #aprn #fnprocks #rn #registerednurse #blacknurseskillinit #blacknursemagic #blacknurses #blasiannurse #nursesofinstagram #nursesrock #blackprofessionals #travelnurselife #travelnurse #travelnursepractitioner #picoftheday #photooftheday #picofthenight #photoofthenight #bosswomen #moneymoves #bossmoves

Myth: Acneic or oily skin must be scrubbed and stripped of any skin oils to reduce the breakouts or oil. Truth: The oils on your skin serve an incredibly important purpose. They help to establish your skins pH level, balance the microbiome, provide hydration, provide protection, provide moisturisation. Removing these oils through excessive cleansing and/or exfoliation removes all the benefits they can provide. Instead, finding the right balance and quality of these oils will prove to be a better option. The types of oils found on our skin are; triglycerides, free fatty acids, wax esters, squalene and cholesterol. . . . . . #skinfluenceclinic #skinfluence #skinfluencer #skin #beautyblogger #skinclinic #skincare #skincareroutine #laserclinic #clearskin #antiageing #nursepractitioner #nurse #dermalclinician #registerednurse #nurseinjector #acne #acneproneskin #oilyskin #oilyskintypes

Today marks 3 years since I officially became a board certified Nurse Practitioner. It’s crazy how the years have flown and how much I’ve grown in my practice. I wanted to share 3 things I’ve learned as I sit in my exam room: • • 1. Seriously, do that thing that SCARES you. You won’t regret it. 2. Time is moving even if you aren’t. You are the youngest you’ll ever be , why wait? 3. God is faithful, submit to his plans and he will carry you. He heals. He restores and BLESSES what he has called you to even if you don’t feel equipped. “And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:30‬ ‭NIV‬‬ It’s a new month of this crazy year 2020, what have you learned to better your tomorrow? I’m already preparing for my next move 👀🤓👜👑 #nursepractitioner #blacknursepractitioner #blacknursesrock #blackentrepreneurs

I did the dang thing and as of today I am a board certified Nurse Practitioner 🩺 • • • Lessons learned: -> spend the money for a good review course -> listen to your gut during the test -> remember you are a badass and you know your shit -> and the easiest way to remember the treatment for STIs is “cuties all get cooties that fuck, suck, & play” If you are studying for your NP boards and want more of my mnemonics like the one above shoot me a message. But for the rest of the day you can find me on my flamingo floaty catching some rays ☀️ #empowher #nursepractitioner #nursepractitionerboards

Slowly turned my closet from the college Forever 21 frat girl to the I “KINDA have my life together” dermatology PA 🥼 . . I HATE shopping but a few tips I have for anyone shadowing, medical/PA/NP/ nursing student, or a new medical professional: 🥼Invest in a good pair of black, COMFY professional pants! I’m a sucker for a tapered leg. @athleta has the stretchiest work pants ever! Def worth the investment (legit wear them every other day.... ) 🥼Since shopping is the bane of my existence, @stitchfix has been SO helpful! They send me 5 articles of clothing a month and I pick what I love! This shirt is one of my favs! 🥼 FLATS FLATS FLATS! This is not the time to try to be cute in your little heels (I’ve tried... ). Comfort FTW - especially when you’re running around the office like me! I personally love an open back, so that I don’t get blisters! 🥼 ALWAYS have a pony tail around! Ain’t nobody got time for your hair falling into a procedure/surgery site!! I always end up with my hair back by the end of the day! . . Any other shopping DO’s or DONT’s for the professional medical attire?!

Monday thoughts 💭 Sometimes it’s weird to post happy stuff when the world is going through it 🌀 The last couple of months have been interesting / emotional / crazy with COVID-19 , unemployment, protests, blm movement, racism, sexism etc— I’ve been back at work for about a month now. We also have to wear masks all day ... but at least we are doing our part to keep people safe🖖🏼 I hope everyone stays safe + positive🤍 never forget to keep an open mind about things. I know sometimes it’s hard to understand things if you’ve never been affected by it but as long as an open mind (& heart ) is present — that’s all we need ✨

Feels GOOD to get dressed up and go out again. We picked a restaurant where we could make a reservation and be guaranteed a table outside. Looking for a little normalcy but need to stay smart about it. • Happy Holiday weekend y’all! Stay safe. Wear a mask. Keep your distance. 𝗡𝗜𝗖𝗨 𝗕𝗔𝗕𝗬 ➡️ 𝙉𝙄𝘾𝙐 𝙉𝙐𝙍𝙎𝙀 👶🏼🩺 ⁣ ⁣ i am 𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙟𝙤𝙮𝙚𝙙 to announce that I’ve accepted a position in the New Grad Nurse Residency Program🩺 in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU ) 👶🏼 at Children’s Hospital of Colorado 💛⁣ ⁣ For those of you that don’t know my story - I am a NICU baby myself 👶🏼. In 1996 I was born at 27 weeks, weighing less than 1000g, and had numerous comorbidities like Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia (BPD ), Stage 3 Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP ) and Grade 3 + 4 Intraventricular Hemorrhage. In other words my parents were warned I would likely have chronic hospitalizations for pneumonia and develop asthma, be legally blind if not completely blind, and have cerebral palsy related to the severe bleeding in my brain. ⁣ ⁣ 𝘽𝙖𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙚 𝙙𝙞𝙖𝙜𝙣𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙨 𝙞 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙𝙣’𝙩 𝙗𝙚 𝙣𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙡𝙮 𝙖𝙨 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝𝙮 𝙖𝙨 𝙄 𝙖𝙢 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞 𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙙 𝙢𝙮𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛 𝙤𝙛 𝙙𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙮. ⁣ I know not all babies have the same outcomes as me. I recognize that this story isn’t the norm. And that is exactly why I was meant to be a NICU nurse. I cannot think of a better way to say 𝙏𝙃𝘼𝙉𝙆 𝙔𝙊𝙐 to the community I credit with my life, than to use this life to give back to NICU families as a nurse myself 💛⁣ ⁣ I can’t believe I’m saying this but this NICU baby is 𝙤𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙖 𝙉𝙄𝘾𝙐 𝙣𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚 👶🏼🩺

♿️Wheelchair Bound?! 🦽 I’m not sure where/ when this terminology came about. I can tell you that no one that uses a wheelchair is “wheelchair bound”. We use our wheelchairs to get around. We use our chairs as a way to weave through the inaccessibility of the world. When you see a wheelchair, is your first thought to question the person’s ability as if it is hinged on the four wheels they are rolling on? Do you question how much each cool wheelchair you see costs? Did you know that wheelchairs like mine coast upwards of a small car and that you have to maintenance them more than a car! Understand that words give a definition: I’m not bound! I am a wheelchair user. We do not sleep all night or shower in our chairs. We are transferred out of them as needed making us BOUNDLESS! ❕❗️****All healthcare staff; I’m calling y’all out on this one! Please stop referring to patients as Wheelchair Bound******❕❗️
