Healthcare is constantly evolving. Therefore, nurses are familiar with change, flexibility, and being a life-long learner. Nurses have a wide range of opportunities available for them if they are able to take up new skills and apply themselves. Entrepreneurial Skills Nurses have a unique set of skills that allow them to be successful inside and outside of the healthcare system. Due to this, many nurses have pivoted from working in healthcare to being entrepreneurs. Some nurse entrepreneurs continue to provide health related services. This includes V. Yvette Cheeks MSN, RN, the owner of a continuing education nursing company and Racey L. Wolfman, owns an adult day care program. On the other hand, nurses often pivot a little further and explore something completely new. For example, Renee Baldom is a registered nurse and owns Unlimited Potential, a skincare studio. While Eleanor Sullivan RN, writes mystery novels. #medijobsusa #nursescrubs #healthcaretips #nurseblog #medicalblogger #nursesareawesome #medicalassistantlife #dentalassistantlife #nursesonly #schoolnurse #registerednurses #registerednurses #healthcareprofessional #dentalhygieneschool #pediatricnurse #pediatricnurse #pediatricnurse #physicianassistant #nursepractitioner #nursesinspirenurses #healthcareers #aprn #instanursing #nurse 💉 #medicalstudents #nurselife 💊💉 #nursingschoolproblems #medicalassistant #nurseproblems

Happy, happy Friday 💛

The very first piece of grief counseling I ever received was from my nurse, Pearl, after we said goodbye to Ella. She held my hand and gently explained “You’re going to be living an “and life” from here on out”. She said that when we felt joy, we would also feel the sting of grief at the same time. It was a concept I didn’t understand right away. Ella’s death was the first in my immediate family, I had never truly experienced grief before. After she died, I didn’t believe I could ever feel anything other than emptiness and despair ever again. It didn’t seem possible that I could feel a happy feeling and a sad feeling at the same time, they didn’t fit together in my previous life before my babies started dying. Now I know that Pearl was absolutely right. For the last year, I have been living an and life. Joy & grief. Strength & brokenness. Hope & fear. Wanting to die so I can be with my babies & wanting to live to experience life for them in the way that they can’t. Sadness for my fellow loss moms & comfort that I’m not alone in this. I’ve come to find that “grief brain” after death is my mind rearranging what I thought was going to be true. I was once a happy go lucky mom completely oblivious to the fact that there are ultimately two outcomes of being pregnant. Then Ella died and it took time for my brain to rearrange to this new understanding of the way life works. That horrible unspeakable things happen to good people all the time. Then Austin died, it happened to my family again. I’m still rearranging what I thought was true. I had shifted comfortably back into the “it won’t happen to me” life when I was pregnant with Austin. Reality has hit me very hard in the last few days. I haven’t been allowing myself to feel the pain to the extent it needs to be felt for Austin. I haven’t been letting the grief in, so there has been no room for joy. My grieving heart is a contradiction and I have to accept that as a fact, for me it’s the only way forward. ”&” gives me the permission to continue living my life after the death of my children. To mourn my dead babies & celebrate my living one. It’s okay to feel devastated & have small moments of joy. Forever & ever.

𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘰𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘯 𝘥𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘭𝘦𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘤𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘦?⁣ ⁣ Almost never! Ammiiright?⁣ ⁣ Typically when a patient rolls out of surgery they want 1 of 2 things ASAP, a steak or their cell phone. ⁣ ⁣ I’ve taken care of patients who forget their charger & ask every single nurse they have if they can borrow a charger even though each patient room has a phone in it. ⁣ ⁣ It’s not the same. I can bet you don’t have more than 5 phone numbers memorized. We lived in a world that revolves around our cell phones/electronics.⁣ ⁣ We spend so much time making sure our cell phones & other electronics are charged…⁣ ⁣ Yet when it comes to our bodies we:⁣ ❌Don’t always give it enough sleep⁣ ❌Don’t always feed it the most nutritious foods⁣ ❌Don’t always give it the proper movement it needs/wants⁣ ❌Don’t always drink enough water⁣ ⁣ The things that drain our bodies are sometimes done out of habit or because life gets crazy sometimes. ⁣ ⁣ If your habits are not charging your batteries in order to thrive...I mean I think you can figure out that it’s not a good thing.⁣ ⁣ Some of the things that charge us seem simple on paper but actually end up being the hardest things to do.⁣ ⁣ Filling up your water cup and drinking it multiple times a day isn’t like trying to climb Mt Everest. ⁣ ⁣ Eating a few portions of veggies and fruit throughout the day isn’t like trying to build a rocket ship. ⁣ ⁣ Yet we struggle to do them either consistently or at all.⁣ ⁣ Mental resistance to doing new things or changing your habits isn’t unusual. The only way to break the resistance is start small & then be disciplined with achieving the small things. ⁣ ⁣ Over time, these then become your habits. ⁣ ⁣ You can’t expect major physical changes if you aren’t doing the things that build the foundation & keep your body charged. ⁣ ⁣ Audit your behaviors & really see if they are charging or draining your energy. ⁣ ⁣ ✅Make the things that charge you-your health non-negotiables. ⁣ ⁣ 𝐒𝐨 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐝𝐨 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐲? ‼️𝐓𝐀𝐆 𝐚 𝐍𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬👇𝟏𝟐 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐀𝐌𝐑𝐀𝐏 My work with my nurse clients has taught me one thing about why nurses struggle to lose weight & get a workout in: they’re too tired. Does this sound familiar? Here’s the thing, starting with short workouts is a great way to get some movement in a short amount of time. You’ll even realize you have more energy post workout! I did this from my living room with my babygirl watching☺️ Try this AMRAP below. In case you don’t know, This stands for As Many Rounds as Possible. You will go through each set of exercises as many times as you can until the timer is up. Set your timer for 12 minutes: 1️⃣ 12 Squats 2️⃣ 20 Alternating Mountain climbers 3️⃣ 10 Alternating reverse lunges 4️⃣ 10 pushups Try not to rest in between sets! Use common sense when doing these exercises and modify as needed. You got this💪

Nursing school was TOUGH. ⁣ ⁣ But I went through it because I knew that I wanted to help people. I knew that I wanted to educate patients, and the meet their needs, to care for them, to see them leave healthier than when they came in. ⁣ ⁣ You know what I didn’t go to nursing school for- the hospital politics, making sure that ever decision I made was finically adventitious for the hospital company, the get yelled at and walked all over by patients and their family. I didn’t want any of that. ⁣ ⁣ I truly believe that nursing burnout doesn’t come from the patient care side- but because of the million other things that is asked of us. ⁣ ⁣ I honestly love sharing Plexus SO MUCH because it gives me the ability to get back to that true love- to see people change their health, the help friends feel better after feeling miserable for so long. I daily hear friends health wins, I’m constantly meeting new friends who are ready to take care of their health now. ⁣ ⁣ I will always love prevention over treatment. And plexus brings me so much joy. ⁣ ⁣ So yes, I will continue to share what it has done for my health and the health of so many of my friends- because root healing is the best kind of health there is.

👋I’ve had quite a few new followers & wanted to take a moment to introduce myself!👋I’m Melissa Cox FNP-C, ENP-C. As a Nurse Practitioner with Dual Board Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner and Emergency Nurse Practitioner, I have a genuine passion for shaping today's modern healthcare through the fields of Emergency Medicine and Medical Aesthetics. I get the best of both worlds: I save lives & enhance natural beauty.👩🏼‍⚕️ . A California native, I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology in 2005. I started my career in Emergency Medicine in 2006 as an Orthopedic Technician at a Level II Trauma Center. It was there that I truly fell in love with the nursing profession. I started my Masters of Science in Nursing at Western University of Health Sciences in 2009. As a new grad RN, I went straight into working in the Emergency Department. I continued my career in the Emergency Department as an RN, then a Charge RN, & now as an NP for the last 6 years.👩🏼‍⚕️ . I have had the opportunity to collaborate with so many amazing & innovative interprofessionals over the last 15 years in health care. The more I learn, the more I truly care about the inside of my patients just as much as the outside. Every day that I get to make a positive impact and make a difference in someone's life fuels my passion for creating awareness, optimizing overall health and wellness, educating, and empowering individuals to a healthier lifestyle. I love empowering people with information and daily habits to put them back in the drivers seat to their health and happiness. Helping people feel beautiful inside & out.✨💫 . This passion consumed me to a point that propelled & developed into the launch of Aspire Weight Loss & Wellness in 2019. My goal is to keep people healthier to keep them out of the Emergency Room. The passion is engaging people in the ongoing process of improving their own health and well being. Because Health is Wealth.💫 . When I’m not saving lives in the ER or enhancing natural beauty in my MedSpa, you can probably find me with the love of my life & husband of 6 years Charlie or with my oversized lap dog Drake - or training for my next Spartan Race.💪

I have CLINICAL tomorrow and let me tell you...it’s been a roller coaster mentally!! At first when the school informed the students that clinical was about to start up again, I was honestly overwhelmed and nervous. Johns Hopkins Hospital was the only Hospital in the area that would legally accept students. I thought what about PPE? Or if I could mentally deal with working during COVID as a STUDENT!?!?🥴 . . But honestly it’s not that bad in my opinion. I enjoy the thrill of it tbh 😅Plus there aren’t any COVID patients on our trauma unit! 👍🏽🙌🏾🙌🏾well not yet atleast. . . Has anyone else started clinical yet?? Or if not what are your thoughts about going to clinical during COVID?🤔🤔
