So glad we can all meet up again. Luckily I work with these girls (minus @lorrel_farrah & now much @emmi_lou ) so it hasn’t been too difficult, but it’s so nice to have some drinks, play Jenga, sit in the sun & to have a break from WORK! Feeling more fresh post catch up - although the same can’t be said the morning after, hence the chicken nugget delivery from mcdonalds, saviour! . I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! Today i had the day off where I literally did nothing & it was amazing. Preparing for my night shifts this week, but the weather is raining now so I dont mind too much☔️. . #nurse #qualifiednurse #registerednurse #nursing #nurselife #studentnurse #nursingstudent #medicstudent #nhs #nationalhealthservice #nursesofinstagram #blog #vlog #nurseblogger #smallyoutuber

Dear Nursing Students, Nursing School can be hard in so many ways but the good news is: IT IS TEMPORARY. 🙏 This has what got me through pre-req’s and my nursing program. I keep reminding myself that these stressful, sleep deprived, and challenging times will eventually end. This is a tough, short period of time that will give you a better life in the long run!!! 💕 Whether mentally, physically, emotionally, or financially. Nursing school is temporary, but a better life for you and your family is what will last!❤️ Follow @nursetired For more . . . . . . . . . #NpowermentImpacts :: Meet Mouna, RN. This is Mouna’s N-Powerment Impact story: I call Ashley and Linda the NCLEX therapists!! I passed my NCLEX in 60Q because of N powernment🥳! It is more than it being about content, it is about taking control of your thoughts and motivating yourself as you study and throughout the exam in order to be able to succeed. I was empowered everyday to study and felt so comfortable to ask plenty of questions. Ashley returned all my questions within minutes and I asked tons ... she was super nice answering them and always said it in simpler terms. She pumped me up before my exam and was with me the whole way until even after I wrote it and reassured me as I felt horrible after! My NCLEX was very difficult, but I used thought stopping and kept empowering myself throughout... no dwelling over questions or meds I never heard of and trusting my instincts. Any time I doubted myself during the NCLEX, I could hear Ashley’s voice saying “I can do this, I am capable and I am smart enough.. just breathe” and it works !! The book is written so simple, the concept maps are awesome, but most of all is that you get emotional support from these professors that is worth more than any studying you will do because you need to be in the right state of mind to write the NCLEX and think through the questions. I am sooo thankful for N powernment and Ashley for all her time in joining me throughout this journey. I have achieved my goal and can say I officially am a RN 🩺💉💊 -Mouna  #nclexprep #nclexstudying #nclex #nclexrn #nclexpn #nclexpass #nclexreview #nclexquestions #nclextips #nurseinthemaking #nursingschool #nurse #nursingstudent #nclexexam #nclexhelp #nclexpreparation #nclexstudying #passnclex #nclexhereicome #cpnre #passthenclex #nursesofinstagram #nursesrock #nursestudent #registerednurse #npowermentworks #npowermentreview #getnpowered #nurseinthemaking #nurselife 💊💉 #nurse 💉

My study style changes every quarter. At the end of every quarter I reflect on what worked and what didn’t work and then I modify my study style. Keep in mind that this works for me but it may not work for you but I hope that you find this informative and maybe it will give you ideas. My current study schedule for my lecture classes are: •First I go through syllabus plan and organize due dates for assignments, exams, quizzes, and discussion posts. • I try to do all the assignments earlier in the week that way I have more time to study for quizzes or prepare for exams. • For quizzes and exams I use a mix of Quizlet, notes from the PowerPoint’s and hand writing the notes from the PowerPoint‘s into my own words I rarely read the book but if I need to I summarize important details into a google doc. •I space out studying time for each class. •once I studied all the topics I test my self.

How do recent graduate nurses get hired? 1- Consider starting out in a nursing specialty that wasn't your first choice. 2- It's an old saying, but it's true: sometimes it's not what you know, but who you know. 3- Under-served areas, rural or urban, may be another possible source of employment. 4- In support of the community, some local hospitals have a preferred candidate arrangement with nearby nursing schools Even if you are still in nursing school you can position yourself for that first job now! Get the facts and be prepared! Read more, link in bio!

"I knew I wanted to help people when I found out my late aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was 8. She was an amazing RN who helped not only the local community, but communities around the world. She passed away when I was 14, and that’s when I started looking into the disease process of breast cancer. My love for science and health sciences grew, and I decided I wanted to become a nurse. At 15, I was diagnosed with PCOS and told I can’t have kids. My mental health took an enormous turn. Yet I still got into nursing school at 18. My final year of nursing school, I was doing great, I was already in therapy and making progress, but then I had quite the setback. I thought I just had tonsillitis and was given antibiotics. One night I knew something was wrong, the lymph nodes in my neck were literally visible to the naked eye. I struggled to move due to the pain in my abdomen. My face was puffy and I had periorbital edema. Terrible fevers, extreme fatigue and I lost my voice. I went to the hospital and they ran a bunch of tests and ordered multiple ultrasounds. I was in and out of the hospital for a week during finals season. Turns out, the mono virus was incubating for a month — resulting in hepatomegaly, splenomegaly, and an inflamed gallbladder with polyps. All of my final exams were deferred, and I’d gone from one therapy session biweekly to two sessions every week. Doctors told me I wouldn’t graduate on time, and I had my preceptorship semester in a couple weeks. Although I started that semester late, I STILL GRADUATED WITH THE REST OF MY CLASS. That is when I knew NOTHING can stop me. The day after graduation, I got an email that my boards results were out ...AND I WAS LICENSED TO PRACTICE NURSING. I couldn’t help but cry. If there is anything I can tell my younger self, it is that it’s OKAY to make mistakes — that’s how you learn. All that crap that happened: NEVER blame yourself! It’s NOT your fault. Lastly, treat yourself. Please don’t be afraid to be proud of yourself. Literally nothing can stop you unless you let it. Nurses and nursing students... we’re so powerful and strong y’all. Please don’t let anyone ever talk down on you." - @thenurseg

This is something I feel very strongly about because I’ve witnessed it too much; and little naive me was very shocked when I first encountered seeing a clinician be disrespectful and unprofessional. I genuinely thought anyone who chose to be in healthcare adhered to being respectful and compassionate. But it isn’t reality unfortunately. ◻️Professionalism & Respect are values that must be actually embedded in our character. They aren’t just boxes we tick off on our mental checklist of key words to mention in interviews. They are core values to keep the cogwheel of effective team work in healthcare going. ◻️ We encounter enough hard work in what we do (albeit rewarding ) - therefore we don’t need to add to it by promoting directly or even indirectly unprofessionalism and disrespect; something that happens far too often amongst even “colleagues” clinically. ◻️ If you wouldn’t like to be treated that way, then don’t reciprocate the same energy 🤷🏽‍♀️ We NEED to continually uplift each other as healthcare professionals/students and remember it’s actually a privilege to do what we do. 🤍 also frankly whether you’re a healthcare professional or not, you should be respectful in all walks of life anyway 🤷🏽‍♀️

Speak to family and friends. If you are in a relationship, speak to your partner and warn them of the stormy times ahead ☔️ . • • 💰 Employer sponsorship. This is when a course is funded by your employer. I would suggest asking your self these questions before approaching your employer. 1️⃣ Do I meet the requirements from the university? 2️⃣ Will this course benefit my clients/patients? 3️⃣ will my employer benefit from me doing this course? 4️⃣ am I willing to sign a contract of reciprocity with this employer? • If you can answer YES to 1️⃣ and any two other questions, you should speak to your employer. What is the worst that could happen? They could say no. • • 💰 Postgraduate loan. Similar to undergraduate loan. Interest starts from the day you receive your fist payment. You pay % of your wage over 21K. You start paying 4 years after your course, or the April after finishing whichever comes first (Doctoral Loan ). 💻 https://www.gov.uk/masters-loan/apply 💻 https://www.gov.uk/doctoral-loan • I hope this helps, • • Lynn x . #professionaldoctorate #dprof #physicianassociate #physicianassociatestudent #healthcare #nhs #healthandsocialcare #nurse #nursing #adultnurse #nursingstudent #tna #bms #biomed #medicine #premed #prepa #psychology #phdchat #phdfunding #mastersfunding #doctorate #motivation #lifestyle #medicine #melaninstudent #studygram #like #plantmum #phdjourney #watchmestudy

𝐓𝐑𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐂𝐄𝐒𝐒 🙌🏽 I remember being a pre-nursing student eagerly waiting to complete my CNA class! It was so exciting to learn how to take vital signs and work alongside nurses! I remember my first ever CNA job in the Burn ICU and how inspired I was by those nurses. The moment I got into nursing school, the day I was floated to NICU, graduating nursing school, passing NCLEX, starting my first day as a NICU RN...I recall each of these moments in my journey! Now, I’m so close to becoming a PNP! One day, many years ago, I dreamed of reaching that goal of becoming a PNP and now I’m here so close to it ❤️ Trust the process, you will get there! Tell me where you are in your journey..I want to hear in the comments below!

These five friends from @TWUnursing 's Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP ) program launched a nonprofit to help the next generation of Black female professionals succeed! ♥️♥️♥️ . Whitney Kirkpatrick Valentine, Kyanna Silas, LaSteshia Ekeocha, Dennia Thompson and Leticia Cole became friends at @TWUDallas ' T. Boone Pickens Institute of Health Sciences. When they graduated May 2019, they were the first in their families to graduate with doctoral degrees. After graduating, they launched Black Women Instilling Scholarly Excellence, or @BWISE_Mentoring . The nonprofit is dedicated to helping women of color succeed. MAJOR THROWBACK to 2016: The last 4 years have definitely been an interesting journey. This picture was taken at a time when I was at my lowest weight and in the best shape of my life! Little did I know in just a few years I would put on 40-50 lbs in about a year and would be struggling hard to get the weight off! No matter what I tried I could not get the weight off and it seemed like my weight just kept creeping up. After a year of struggling I finally went to my doctor and discussed my concerns about my weight and also the facial hair growth that I was experiencing. After about 10 different blood tests, an ultrasound, and meeting with a dermatologist I was diagnosed with PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome ). • • For those who don’t know what PCOS is, it is a hormonal disorder where basically all your hormones are out of wack! You can experience irregular periods, facial hair growth due, acne, obesity, mood swings and many more symptoms! • • It’s been about 7-8 months since I’ve been diagnosed and I’m still trying to figure what diets and exercises work for me that will help with the weight loss. In the last week I’ve been going strictly dairy and gluten free and I feel like I’ve finally found something that works for me! In one week I’m almost down 6lbs! 🙌🏼 PCOS is extremely common among women and it SHOULD NOT be taboo to discuss it! I’m looking forward to sharing my journey with PCOS on this page 💕

Two months ago I came back from NYC feeling triumphant, thinking ‘we’ did it, we beat this virus and with slow preparations life would resume as it once was. I was wrong. What a false sense of security I had. NY is doing great (for the time being ) but now southern states are struggling. Yesterday I volunteered my services at a free drive-up COVID-19 testing site and as a man rolled down his window I asked if he had any questions for me. ‘Yes,’ he responded, ‘When will this hell be over?’ Great question, I thought. Usman has repeated to me over and over how exhausted he is dealing with this at the hospital. If you’re tired of life as it is, imagine how health care workers feel. I still can’t comprehend how many still think it’s a hoax and refuse to wear masks. It’s just a simple face covering showing that I respect your health, and hoping you respect mine. ⁣ .⁣ Anyways, shout out to the volunteers who were out in 90 degree weather in full PPE to ensure that the underserved community’s testing needs were met. The lines wrapped around the block and the team worked tirelessly to get everyone taken care of. They truly inspired me 🖤
