Stage 1 has officially commenced for me. As many of my fellow Diploma of Nursing pals know our Stage 1 Semester started Monday, however I’ve had nothing but issues. My registration & enrolment wasn’t done properly, so I haven’t been able to start till today. I’m so relieved to finally be up and running, now to catch up with everyone else. I’m focusing on getting my HLTWHS002 unit completed first. . . #studentnurseaus #studentnurseaustralia #studentnurselife #nursingstudentlife #nursingstudent #tafesa #diplomaofnursing #nursingstudentproblems #studentnursesofinstagram #studentnurses #enrollednurse #becominganurse #studentnursemum

i never officially posted about graduation, so here is a photo taken in front of my house after my zoom ceremony on may 22. to be honest with you, i was going to wait until i got my rn license to post something. not having an official graduation ceremony kind of made me feel like i was missing something and the moment felt like it passed me. so i’ve been going back and forth about it and i came to the realization that it is important to celebrate my victories, big and small. and it’s important to celebrate myself, especially after all the hard work and thousands of dollars spent.⁣ ⁣ 5 years and 2 universities later, i graduated at 22, with my bachelor’s of science in nursing after 3 years of nursing school at san jose state university. i finished my undergraduate journey with a 3.81 gpa and cum laude honors. this journey wasn’t exactly the most perfect one and there were a lot of obstacles in between, but i did it and the transformation was incredible! i worked damn hard. and, whether i knew it or not, everything happened for a reason and everything fell into place.⁣ ⁣ i am the daughter of filipino immigrants and the first one in my immediate family to graduate from a university in the unites states. and thanks to my parents, i am privileged to say i graduated from college debt-free. i don’t know what the future holds for me, but i’m so excited for everything coming my way. coming soon (and hopefully really soon *cough cough ca brn hurry up with giving me and my classmates our atts, so we can take the nclex* ): registered nurse license. 🎉🎓

• • • 𝔸𝕡𝕡𝕤 • • • If you're like me then you probably don't want to be caring books with you every where you go. Yet, you really need to study. Well while you're at the doctor's office or waiting to get your fixed here are some apps that have been helping me out to study on the go. •  • • @nursing .com_ : here you have the videos, cheat sheets, and nursing practice questions. I love the videos especially since it helps me understand the concept. The videos are short and to the point which is what I need in my life • • • RN mentor : So these are past ATI questions. You are able to customize how many questions you want and what categories. All while still providing you with the rationale. • • • ATI Go! : So remember how I said about not caring so many books? Well this app carries all your ATI ebooks and your focus review. Yes all those ATI books at your finger tips. • • • Nursing central : This is my bff especially in clinicals♥️ The app provides all the medications, side effects, patient education and so much more. Yes even med calculations! • • • Uworld: I was so excited to see that Uworld has an app. It is set up just like their website and you are able to look at all the flash cards you made, questions you missed, plus the amazing rationalize with pics ! • • • 🙌 Bonus 🙌 @holliblu this app is not just for nurse but for nursing students too! This enables you to connect with other students and nurses in your area. Plus you are able to have all your credentials in one area instead of looking around to find them. ✨What are your fav school apps?✨

𝙸 𝚀𝚞𝚒𝚝 𝙽𝚞𝚛𝚜𝚒𝚗𝚐 Yes, you read that right about 1.5 years ago I withdrew from my second year of nursing school. I remember it like yesterday sitting there and feeling defeated, never in my life had I faced such a drastic change. I felt scared to tell my family, I was scared about what my friends would think and overall I was afraid of the future. It got to a point in school where I was doing just enough to pass and not truly understanding what I was doing. I cried almost everyday because school was overwhelming and I felt I wasn’t good enough. I felt drained mentally and exhausted physically, so I withdrew in the fall semester. 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒃𝒂𝒄𝒌 𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒓 For a long period of time I felt the need to hide the fact I withdrew from the world because I felt ashamed. I was afraid of what people would say and think of about me. I didn’t want to tell the incoming class I was a repeater because they would think I wasn’t good enough to finish second year the first time. It wasn’t long until I realized how withdrawing was one of the best things ever. I got 8 months off to fast track my electives, save money and create a better mental space and overall apperiacte life. When I came back in the following September I felt more confident at placements to preform skills and help others. Academically I had one of the best years and I actually started to understand what I was learning. I met a lot of new people and made some pretty awesome memories. Oh and NO ONE CARED THAT I WAS A REPEATER. 𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝑰’𝒎 𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 I wanted to share this experience to reach to anyone who is struggling or contemplating about quitting: ✔️I want to tell you that taking a year off to take care of yourself is okay ✔️I wanted to tell you that staying a year back is okay ✔️I wanted to tell you that you’ll graduate and find a job ✔️I wanted to tell you you’re not alone in this fight, me and you we’re going to be just fine ❤️ ✨It’s true your failures are blessings from which you learn and become stronger

Despite the weather being all over the place today and possibly having a black out, the grind doesn’t stop. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📚⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Just wanted to take a quick break and chat with you guys and give you guys a little update regarding the exam. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📚⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So the count down begins for the certification exam. T-13 days until test date. Slowly I’m starting to get nervous, but those nerves go away when I start going over content and realize that I know more than what I thought. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📚⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Right now, my biggest struggle is taking my time when it comes to completing the questions. I tend to rush through them and not fully read the question or even the answers. I jump to conclusions as a results and it’s wrong most of the time. My goal for this week is to take it step by step. If I do 10 questions, then I better take 10 minutes to complete it. That is how I will learn to pace myself when it comes time for the exam. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📚⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ How have you been holding up today? For anyone who is stuck with the hurricane, please stay safe. 💕⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📚⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #studentnursesofinstagram #studentnurse #nursingstudytips #nursingschooljourney #studentnursestudytips #studentnurses #nurseintraining #nursingschool #nursingstudent #studentnursestudylife #studentnursestudy #studentnursesstudying #studentnursestudyproblems #nursingschoolprobs #nurseinthemaking #nurseinprogress #nursing_student #nursingstudentlife #nursingschoollife

Nervously waiting for my LAST year of Nursing School to start 😬😅 . . . . . . I’ve been trying to enjoy my last few weeks of summer, even though there’s not much to do at home in quarantine. I want to start working on my planner and getting ready for classes but our schedule isn’t ready yet and no one has released any syllabus which is quite stressful for someone who loves planning ahead lol If you are on summer break how are you enjoying the remainder of it, if you’re in summer classes how is that going 😱? #nursing #nursingschool #nursingstudent #studentnurse #studentnurselife #futurenurse #futurern #RNstudent #nursinglife #nurse #nurselife #nursingstudentlife #studyhabits #study #collegesenior #senioryear #BSN #RN

Hi : ) here’s a list of random NCLEX facts you should know⁣ ⁣ In acidosis, the RR and depth increase in an attempt to exhale acids. In alkalosis, the RR and depth decrease; CO2 is retained to neutralize and decrease the strength of excess bicarbonate⁣ ⁣ Signs of L ventricular failure are evident in the pulmonary system. Signs of R ventricular failure are evident in the systemic circulation⁣ ⁣ The rapid removal of fluid from the abdominal cavity during paracentesis leads to decreased abdominal pressure, which can cause vasodilation and resultant shock; therefore, HR and BP must be monitored closely⁣ ⁣ Do not attempt to administer oral food or fluids to the pt experiencing a severe hypoglycemic reaction who is semiconscious or unconscious and is unable to swallow. This pt is at risk for aspiration. For this pt, an injection of glucagon is administered SC or IM. In the hospital or ER, the pt may be treated with an IV injection of 25-50 mL of 50% dextrose in water⁣ ⁣ Rubella vaccine is not given during pregnancy because the live attenuated virus may cross the placenta and present a risk to the developing fetus⁣ ⁣ Monitor the pt being treated for DKA closely for signs of increased ICP. If the blood glucose level falls too far or too fast before the brain has time to equilibrate, water is pulled from the blood to the CSF and brain, causing cerebral edema and increased ICP⁣

Dear Nursing Students, Nursing School can be hard in so many ways but the good news is: IT IS TEMPORARY. 🙏 This has what got me through pre-req’s and my nursing program. I keep reminding myself that these stressful, sleep deprived, and challenging times will eventually end. This is a tough, short period of time that will give you a better life in the long run!!! 💕 Whether mentally, physically, emotionally, or financially. Nursing school is temporary, but a better life for you and your family is what will last!❤️ #nursingschool #nursingstudent #nursingstudent #nursingschooltips #pharmacology #pathophysiology #nursingnotes #nursingschoolmotivation #nursingstudentlife #nursingschoollife

✨ TRANSPARENCY POST ✨ . . @addybby_ posted something the other day that has been stuck on my mind until today and I felt like I needed to talk about it and be transparent. Nursing school has been HARD AF! I spent last week crying to myself that maybe this just isn’t for me, maybe I’m not as smart as I think and I’m not as qualified as the rest of my peers. I studied for my first Med-Surg exam this semester, I bought flash cards, I looked over all the material and felt defeated once I saw my grade. How the hell…?? What did I do wrong…? Fast forward to yesterday, I took my second exam and was HYPEEEEEEE after seeing my grade. I had to sit down and have a real honest talk with myself. “Kay, you’re only defeated if you let yourself be defeated. You’re just as smart as anyone else in this program and deserving of everything you have” Nursing school has been the most challenging and most rewarding thing I have probably ever done. It has pushed me when I thought I couldn’t be pushed anymore and has taught me SO MUCHH. If you’re preparing for nursing school or thinking about it cause its something you really want - go for it! Everyone’s journey is different and your own journey will make it so much more rewarding in the end 🤍 . . . #studentmotivation #absn #latinasinmedicine #acceleratednursing #studygram #nursing #nursingschool #nursingstudent #medicine #nursingstudentlife #latinainstem #nurselife #nontraditionalstudent #nurse #studymotivation #studynotes #girlsinstem #studying #studymode #stemgirls

Here's a secret: NOBODY walks into nursing school knowing it all. 🧠 The smartest people in the world WORKED hard to get to where they are and had to learn the material before they understood it. So even if you may feel like you are "dumb" some days, it is not because you are not smart. The reason is that nursing school material is tough. Do not give up because eventually, it will click!🩺👩‍⚕️🙏 Keep the faith. Hard work will eventually pay off. 💖 #nursingschool #nursingschoolproblems #nursingschoollife #nursingschooltips #nursingschoolmotivation #nursingstudent #nursingstudents #nursingstudentproblems #nursingstudentlife #nursingstudenttips #pharmacology #pathophysiology #pharmnotes #nurse #nurses #nursingstudent

No book can teach you how to respect a patient’s dignity. It’s not about the pills, the IVs, or the charting. It’s about caring for people when they are strong. Self care as a nurse doesn’t just mean bubble baths and face masks. ⁣ It means PRIORITIZING your health & YOUR needs, gaining CLARITY on your boundaries.⁣ ⁣ In nursing school I remember bouncing out of bed 10 min before I had to be out the door, ALWAYS saying yes to extra hours as a CNA. coming home from work CONSUMING TV/social, it was EXHAUSTING. ⁣ ⁣ As a new grad I don’t just jump out of bed at 4am for the heck of it. I do it because I KNOW how it FEELS to be on the other side.⁣ ⁣ Imagine if..⁣ instead of snoozing your alarm until the last minute every morning you got up and did something for YOU before your shift. ⁣ on your days off you got off the couch + LIVED.⁣ you had CLARITY on WHY it is important to QUIT being the superhero nurse that always takes care of others.⁣ ⁣ I KNOW that I AM a BETTER NURSE because I take care of ME first. ⁣ Getting to where I am at now was HARD- building the habits, changing the mindset, setting boundaries → it took TIME and WORK. ⁣ ⁣ But I KNOW there is a reason that I went through that season of life where all I did was GIVE and it was so I could LEARN to better SUPPORT + TEACH YOU. ⁣ Which is why I am PUMPED about my webinar on Tuesday. This is something I could talk about for hours BUT instead I decided to break it down to a TANGIBLE STEP BY STEP PROCESS that YOU can implement into YOUR life.⁣ It’s time for YOU to take CONTROL - go click the link in my bio to enroll for BUILDING THE BEST YOU - FREE Webinar so you can take back the control and BE YOUR BEST SELF!👩🏼‍⚕️➡️

.⠀ 🩺 How “hard” is Nursing School 🩺 ⠀ .⠀ Like any other professional schooling (business, med, education, engineering, etc. ), there is a level of intrinsic adjustments that need to be acknowledged and act upon. ⠀ .⠀ Yes, nursing school could be considered hard; but hard is relative. Most of my peers found or assumed that medical surgical nursing along with pharmacology and pediatric nursing is hard; whereas I found writing research papers for EBP hard. ⠀ .⠀ Nursing school is a lot of work. You learn something new everyday at a constant pace and you’re required to stay on top of your readings, assignments, papers, clinical, didactic etc. Not to mention the abundance of paperwork needed for each clinical site, and mastery exams. For my program, we have to received certification at four of our main local hospitals. Which excludes rehabilitation centers. ⠀ .⠀ The adjustments I mentioned earlier isn’t unrealistic. I’ve managed to work full time during my first semester, hang out with friends and family on the weekend, and I had my lazy days. Life is a balance. I passed L1 with a 3.49 GPA. It’s doable. ⠀ .⠀ Here’s the trick:⠀ 1️⃣stay on top of EVERYTHING. Trust me it’s pays off in the long run. ⠀ 2️⃣be very organized. You don’t have to invest in an elaborate planner; I didn’t, but that works for some people. I have a business background so I was already organized being an auditor and an accounting assistant. ⠀ 3️⃣accept your limits. You’re not perfect, and I struggle with this myself. My family always remind me that it’s ok to have failed that one test; it doesn’t define what nurse you’ll be. ⠀ 4️⃣ask for help. USE YOUR INSTRUCTORS. They’re getting paid to teach you. Office hours is there for a reason. Have a peer reexplain a concept in his/her own words. Maybe that would help you. ⠀ 5️⃣finally, figure out how to study. You’ll quickly realize that the way you studied before might not work while you’re in nursing school. Also, figure out what studying is to you. For me, reading is studying, taking notes is studying, listening to khan academy is studying, everything is studying. Don’t limit yourself to a desk and a computer screen.

You don’t just get to sit in the success seat without putting in the work to get there.. ya feel me?!⁣ ⁣ I remember my camera roll being filled with screenshots from Pinterest⁣ “how to tone your arms in 7 days”⁣ “ditch the tummy pouch”⁣ “spring break weight loss in 3 weeks”⁣ ⁣ I know you know what I’m talking about.⁣ The thing is, it didn’t matter how many screenshots I filled my camera role with I was still stuck in the same song + dance.⁣ ⁣ Going to the gym —> hopping on the scale (no movement ) —> getting on the treadmill —> intimidated by the weights —> wondering who was going to catch on that I had no idea what I was doing as I was picking up my phone after every move to scroll through my camera roll to see what was next —> laying on the floor for 30 seconds of “core” —> repeat.⁣ ⁣ It just took me some time to realize that just because going to the gym for other people worked for them didn’t mean that it had to work for me (+ clearly it wasn’t after 3+ years of yo-yoing and seeing no real change )⁣ ⁣ I started to see success when I found JOY in what I was doing. When I didn’t feel like I had a huge target on my back + everybodys eyes on me. When I found something tangible for my lifestyle. When I let go of my fear of judgement and tried something new.⁣ I quit letting my success be determined by a number on the scale. ⁣ Part of it had to do with the lack of self confidence the other part of it had to do with the lack of resources. ⁣ Both of which I have learned + grown from. ⁣ ⁣ As a busy human who is bouncing back and forth between travel + nurse life + running my own biz + training for a marathon I KNOW myself and that I need structure + accountability in order to stay on the path to success and actually get results. ⁣ ⁣ Just because it works for someone else, doesn’t mean it’s going to work for you. But ya sure as heck don’t know if ya never try.. so you can keep talking the talk or you can DITCH the talk + walk the walk with me? Always here for ya 👯‍♀️❤️⁣ . . #transformationtuesday #transformyourmindtransformyourlife #lifechangesforthebetter #newgradnurses #newgradrn #nurselifern #nursingstudent #nursingstudentnotes #nursingstudentlife
