Well, that was brutal. Up at 3am hiking by 530, eaten alive by mosquitoes and gnats the first 1.5 hours on climb to Tahquitz Peak. The south face of Tahquitz is pretty barren, it was 91°F and dry as a bone. I started feeling "not good" so I turned around .4 mile before the lookout tower (discretion being the better part of valor ). But I got as high as the spectacular ridge and drop-off. I felt like I was going to collapse by the time I got back to the car. It was 109°F in Hemet and Minefee on the drive home. I'm not doing that again, lol. I hate summer, Icannot stand the heat. Oh, and I ate 2 thimbleberries; at least I think they were thimbleberries

Day 8&9: Quick lunch stop on the way up the Gatescarth Pass. . Had a mammoth few days. Been steadily completing the High Street plateau summited a total of 17 Wainwrights in 2 days, 10 of them came today where I think I've travelled about 24miles and had 5 major ascents. . It's still pretty hot up here and I've had some crystal clear night skies, which has led to some breathtaking stargazing from my camp up near Thornthwaite Crag. The cloud inversion this morning was stunning. . Wainwrights summited: Wether Hill, Kidsty Pike, Rest Dodd, Brock Crags, High Raise, Stony Cove Pike, Hartsopp Dodd, Mardale Ill Bell, Harter Fell, Kentmere Pike, Shipman Knotts, Branstree, Tarn Crag, Grey Crag, Selside. The New Normal 😷 . I haven’t the faintest idea when thing will go back to normal or if they ever be the same. But as always; we will adapt and overcome... right? 🧐 . Travel is pretty much out of the question right now so many people are staying local and enjoying their own backyards. 🏡 That being said - you can still travel (in country ) and be cautious and courteous. . We have focused all of our adventures outdoors. We go into stores only to restock food. We haven’t gone into any stores or visitor centers. For the most part, everyone is doing pretty well wearing their masks. 🎭 Be sure to focus spending your time outdoors and in less populated areas. Enjoy your time and be safe! . How have you been traveling with the current pandemic? Share with us!

When it rains a lot, the beach closest to our house looks like this.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And....it has been raining A LOT.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Yes, there is a very good reason this area is so beautifully lush and green.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ At least now there is SNOW, too!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And we were soooo lucky. The ski resort opened up ticket sales for just two hours before getting shut down by the city (because virus cases are up ).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We happened to go online to buy tix in that open window and got 5 days of Flex Passes before it shut down!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Feeling grateful 🙏 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #barilocheargentina #bariloche #patagoniaargentina #cerrocatedral #southernhemispherewinter #outdoorculture #outdoorfamilies #outsidetime #travelbloggerlife #travelwithus #expatlifestyle #exploreargentina #expatfamily #nature_shots #nature_photography #lakesideview #lakeshore

The hike to Hidden Falls... Part ☝🏼💦 Have you ever been on a trail that just blew your mind with incredible panoramic views? For us, the Hidden Trails via String Lake trail checked that box big time. 🙌🏼 We woke up super early to get a parking spot at String Lake, hitting the trail at 8:30am after fueling up on coffee and cereal. As you hike, beautiful views of String Lake, then Jenny Lake come into view. And we can’t forget about those Tetons! 🤩 This alone would’ve made it one of the best hikes we’ve been on... and we hadn’t even seen the falls yet! 😲 What’s your all-time favorite trail? Drop the trail name, location and mileage below! 👇🏼

Here's a fun fact about #theNHgetaway ! ⠀ ⠀ The house is located on Copple Crown Mountain, which was an alpine ski resort back in the 1970's! ⠀ ⠀ If you're up for a short adventure, you can hike to the top of the hill and witness amazing views of #lakewinni , and will find a little piece of history: an old rusty ski lift. ⠀ ⠀ Many enjoy the hike on a late afternoon, as the sunset is a nice spectacle from up there! ⠀ ⠀ 🌲It's worth experiencing it. Check out the linkinbio for available dates! ⠀ ⠀

We were living up lake life this weekend! We haven't taken the boat out much this year (so far! ) so we decided to hit the road and check out an Arizona lake we've never been to: Upper Lake Mary. It turned out to be a really fun day trip - although Lance and I both agreed that next time we need to make it a long weekend! Here are the details: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Upper Lake Mary allows boats with no motor size limit 🙌 We loved that the lake was surrounded in pines and the temps were in the mid-80's - a big change from what we get in August the valley. The lake isn't very big, but had multiple launch ramps. It seemed like it was more popular for kayakers and paddle boarders, but did see a handful boats pulling tubes, skiers and wakeboarders out there on the lake. We didn't spend much time on the shore but what we saw was either rocky or muddy, so probably wouldn't be my first pick for a lake to hang out at if you didn't have a boat. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Also, when did my 3 year old start posing with her hand on her hip?! 3 going on 13 over here 🤣 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #azboatlife #azboating #azlake #lakemaryaz #upperlakemary

Let’s celebrate differences I started this adventure on IG after I broke my ankle two years ago. I was surfing (sort of ) obviously I am not good at it. I discovered IG as a fun way to express my artistic side and promote my blog. This is a place to share little squares of fun adventures at home and around the world, but also to be real. If you don’t know by now, I am passionate  about resisting bigotry and prejudice. That  is one big reason why I travel and explore with my family.  This may not be the most popular post and I am OK with that. I believe that traveling and seeing the world and being outdoors helps us to understand differences.   Beside the pandemic, we’re living in a time when we are fighting a bigger illness - which  is the lack of tolerance starting with national leadership. Let’s keep it real: these days there are daily speeches from leaders attacking others for the way they look, the color of their skin, where they come from...and that is unbelievably and undeniably hurtful. We are suffering economically and mentally; nobody needs that. I believe we all have our own perspective and the truth is somewhere in the middle. However, it’s clear that the words of our leadership have been repeatedly full of intolerance to differences. Calling people names does not inspire.  We need to resist the urge to hurt others. We must ask ourselves before saying something: is it true, is it kind, is it necessary. Honestly, I struggle with these daily, especially after watching the news. We need to remember that we influence those around us. Let’s do it with compassion and spread tolerance to anyone that is new to us, embrace and applaud differences despite the negativity from others. There are more good people with good heart than the opposite. We have lot of work to do and I want a world for my kids better than this. Are you struggling with this too?

I am so proud of these three. And proud of me for taking them on their first backpacking trip 😌. I often find that parenting outdoors feels a little easier, more carefree, connected, and aligned with who I am. Thankful these three are always up for the adventure ❤️ ✨This was one of those experiences that will be remembered always. (Making the most of 2020 🤘🏼 )

Waterfall Wednesday Hiking at higher elevations is a good way to keep “cool” - it’s all relative!! In NC, another great way to cool off is to find a waterfall, and swim/play in the water. Elk River Falls was great for this, it was a short hike, there were signs that it had been much busier earlier in the day, cars parked half way up the road, but when we arrived, there was only a handful of people left. Very picturesque, we hung out, scrambling over the rocks, wading or swimming in the river, depending on the person, and chilled out with a picnic. TOP TIPS If you don’t fancy getting up early, going later in the day is another great way to get the place to yourself. Please, please leave no trace, take your litter home with you. We’ve really noticed a lot more littering this year with more people on the trails. Have fun in rivers with your kids, but do your research. It is advised that you don’t swim in the pool directly under the falls here, also easy to step out on the rock at the top, instead of following the trail. People have died. Be safe and have fun!😃
