Quick life update. • • So these past couple of months I was in the one of the hardest semesters in nursing school. Dealing with my first specialty, learning tons of meds and then adding foundations of nursing on top of it. • • It was definitely something that was really stressful and challenging. I’m so glad that I have some awesome nursing buddies that are always there and legit know what I’m talking about. I appreciate them soo much 🤍 Lily, Elisa & Courtnee • • So glad this semester was over and done with. Finally passed it and now I can have a mental break for a couple of weeks and then back to it once again. • • On a brighter note I am working up to becoming a student nurse intern and I couldn’t be happier or more ready to begin working in the hospital. • • Definitely will be posting more🤍 #nursing #studentnurse #studentnurselife #studentproblems #covid19 #nursingschool #nursingschoolproblems #endofsemester

Hi everyone! My name is Desiree! I am a first year first generation Latina student nurse. Now that I am in nursing school, I have realized everything that it took for me to get in this exact position I am in today. I will be the first to say that it was not easy. There were many times that I doubted myself because I derailed from the ideal “4 year graduation.” I made sure to follow my gut and passion for nursing and figured out what I needed to do to get my foot into nursing. By studying hard in my pre-reqs and seeking all available resources, here I am. No one in my immediate family has experience in the medical field nor did they go to college. So with that said, I will be using my account to share tips about how to get into nursing school, nursing things, and can answer any questions y’all may have about nursing school! I’m hoping to help others who need help in the process of applying to schools and provide motivation for those who are already in school! If you’re interested, follow me along my crazy ADN-RN journey! 🩺 #nursingstudent #ADNRN #foryoupage #studentnurse #nursingschoollife #nursing #foryourpage #nursingschoolmotivation #nurseinprogress #nurselife #studentnurselife #latinastudentnurse #firstgenerationstudentnurse

SHOCK!⚡️⁣ ⁣ I have one experience of dealing with shock. When I was working at a shop, an elderly lady slipped and fell on a slippery grate. Her ankle was very clearly deformed and half way up her shin to her foot had gone white and cold to touch. It was raining and she was freezing. Luckily I had my medical bag in my car and was able to treat her the best I could until the paramedics arrived. I wrapped her up in foil blankets, covered her with umbrellas and applied ice to the ankle. Unfortunately, the elderly lady quickly went into shock - it was very clear to see. She matched the colour of the background of this picture, had a rapid heart beat and was extremely confused. ⁣ ⁣ Has anyone got any experiences dealing with shock? 🥰⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #nursingschool #nursingstudent #studentnurse #studentnurselife #studentnurses #studentnurseproblems #studentnurseuk #nursing #medicalstudent #likeforlikes #likeforfollow #likeforlikeback #followforfollowback #follow #follow4followback #followme #studynotes #studynote #studying #revision #university #mastersdegree #mastersdegree 🎓 #science #nursesofinstagram #nurse #nursingschoolproblems #shock #medicine #medical

Exactly this time a year ago, I was in my school's library working on identifying what type of bacteria I was assigned for the entire semester. I figured what it was that day. But I couldn't help but stare at this picture that looked like pepperoni pizza. Why would they do this to students? 🤣🍕

INVEST IN YOURSELF & TAKE THE LEAP ✨⠀ ⠀ Isn't it weird that we don't think twice about $45+ towards clothes, brunch, eating out, or even a mini shopping trip on vacation but we are hesitant on booking a 1:1 coaching call or investing in a book?! 🤷🏻‍♂️⠀ ⠀ The fact is, that every time I've invested in myself, there has always a 100% return in investment, if not more. The belief that money spent on personal development is not worth it can be connected to the lack of believing in yourself or even feeling like an imposter. I've been there! That being said, we legitimately only have this one life to shine, and to purposely dim your light and avoid the work to get the things that you want is a life unfulfilled. 🌱⠀ ⠀ Are you ready to take the leap? Are you ready to get ready for your dream job? All you have to do is decide that you want it enough for yourself. I promise it's worth it!⠀ ⠀ Are you failing or struggling in school? Preparing to study for your boards? Feel like your resume is weak? Frustrated that you aren't hearing back about the jobs you are applying to? I'm here to help. 🙋🏻‍♂️⠀ ⠀ I am now offering 1 hour long 1:1 Coaching Sessions. 📞 Not only will you be talking to someone who has definitely been there, but you'll also get all the insider tips+ tricks. 🎓📚⠀ Availability and slots for my coaching are limited so DM to inquire! During, these 1:1 coaching sessions we'll focus on everything career-related-- how to get into nursing school, studying/ organizing during school, how to pass the NCLEX, & craft the perfect resumè + cover letters, and crush your interview to land your dream job! 💗🌈⠀ ⠀ I'm so excited about your growth & helping you feel like you're actually working towards what you want. I promise, once you're ready to invest in yourself, you'll be so surprised by how far you'll grow. 💪🏻⠀ ⠀ DM me to get started loves! ✨💗⠀

CEREBROVASCULAR ACCIDENT (Stroke ) These are often called the “heart attack” of the brain. While scary to experience, we have many interventions to help manage strokes and prevent them - the key ingredient is TIME! The faster a nurse is able to intervene, the higher likelihood that the patient will have a good outcome! This question will for sure be on the NCLEX so make sure to save this post and review the topic!

Taking time out of studies is so important! This year we have been doing theory for around 7 months solid due to Corona. I’m definitely more of a practical learner so I’ll happily admit I’ve been struggling with constant theory and no placement. I love being outdoors so taking a walk or going for a little hike has definitely helped. I think it helps with perspective as well as there’s always a bigger beautiful picture at the end of a struggle.

Balancing school and a relationship Him and I have been through many different seasons together from high school to us doing long distance for a year.. Every challenge has made us into the couple we are today but I cannot help to be anxious about the balancing everything. I’m lucky to have one of the most understanding guys out there that constantly supports me even if that means I’ll be living under a rock for a couple years and as the months go on I hope I get the hang of balancing everything! What’s your tips on balancing your relationship and school? Or even balancing life in general and school?

——————————— 🌿🍃 MINDFULNESS & MELANIN 🍃🌿 •Struggling to sleep at the moment 😫 It’s a mixture of this heat and feeling slightly anxious with a lot playing on my mind. My student loan has been processed but I haven’t heard back from LSF and my ucas hasn’t been updated as of yet. I know this stuff will get sorted, but as the start date for uni edges closer, my anxiety gets a little worse. •I’m not the most academic person and worrying if I will manage with the assignments or referencing etc. I’m lucky to have found a friend from my course already and she feels the same, so hopefully we can lean on each other 🥰 •My Typo satin sleepmask is a godsend for helping me sleep, as is this twilight spray from lush. A few sprays on my pillow and I feel instantly zen. Just got to sort a fan for the room and hopefully my sleep will improve!! 👌🏻 #lush #manchester #typo #sleep #restandrelaxation #quote #slogan #studentnurse #studentnursejourney #studentnurseuk #adultnursing #nursing #studentnurseproblems #nursingstudent #nursingstudentstruggles #nursingstudentsofinstagram #nursing2020 #nurseinprogress #nurseinspiration #nurseintraining #nhs #nhscareers #blogger #bloggeruk #nurseblogger #nurseblog #studentnurselife #nurselife #studygram

First days at a new facility can be TOUGH. We asked connectRN clinicians for their top tips on tackling each first day and here's what they had to say: 1. Ask about the nurse-patient ratio. 2. Research what Electronic Health Record (EMR ) is used. 3. Find the supervisor or clinician in charge as soon as you arrive. 4. Look into parking options and building entrances ahead of time. 5. Go in with a positive and confident attitude! Read more about these tips on our blog: https://www.connectrn.com/post/five-tips-for-a-nurse-s-first-day-at-a-new-facility

🔴It’s important for nurses and nursing students to understand why certain conditions occur and what is happening physiologically in a patient. . . 🟡However, the patient is not interested in hearing those facts – he or she just wants to feel better. . . 🔵When you are studying for the nursing exam, ask yourself, “How will I help my patients with this information?” . . 👩🏽‍🏫You’ll be a better nurse as well as a better student. 💕 💕 👩🏽‍⚕️Dr. David . . #drregisterednurse #drregisterednursesuccessacademy #nursingstudentsbelike #studentnurses #ClinicalInstructor #NurseEducator #NursingEducation #NurseMentor #NurseTutor #NurseCoach #NCLEXCoach #NCLEXReview #NCLEXPrep #NCLEXTutor #FailedNCLEX #StudyStrategies #StudyStrategy #StudentNurseLife #NursingOrientation #NursingSchool #SchoolOfNursing #StudentNurseLife #NursingStudentProblems #LPNtoRN #FutureNurse #RNtoBSN #NewGradNurse #BlackNurseMagic #njnurse #NursingInstructor . . @cherokeeuniforms @scrubsmag

Loving my new FitBit versa lite that I got for my birthday. After having the Alta for a few years and before that the original charge for goodness knows how long, this one is an interesting change. With all the extra features and heart rate monitoring, it almost feels like something I might need if I went to space (😂 ). Pairing this with the insights provided in the app it is a great help to living a healthy life. One of my favourite features is the ‘Relax’ app on the FitBit itself. You can either do two or five minutes of guided grounding breathing! If I’ve learnt anything in the last 6 months it’s that anyone is susceptible to disinformation. Anyone, even those with high levels of education, are smart and strong in critical thinking. Research shows that we (falsely ) perceive ourselves to be less vulnerable to fake news than our friends and family. _ Hold up, Jess. Disinformation? Don’t you mean misinformation? Nope. I mean disinformation. _ Disinformation is knowingly creating and sharing false information with intent. (Slide for the definition of misinformation ) _ Disinformation campaigns are way more popular than you think. Vaccines, 5G, bio weapons, Bill Gates- each of these are campaigns contributing to a broader narrative to cause deception and mistrust. This is just a small example of current campaigns related to COVID at play. These campaigns often have a true element to them, but go on to exploit cognitive biases, leading well-meaning individuals buy in to the narrative and share even further. Hey presto; DIVISION IS BORN. _ Some call it “Weapons of Mass Distraction”. _ 🧐What can it look like? _ - Fabricated tweets/posts - Bots spamming posts with comments (trolls ) - Fake social media accounts - Forged documents _ 🤔Why do they do it? It’s complex - but typically there is a combination of political, financial or other incentives behind the false information. _ 🚩Red flags to look out for 1. The content sparks extreme emotion (anger, disgust, distrust ) 2. Seems extraordinary 3. Perfectly confirms your own beliefs 4. Spelling errors or multiple fonts (indicating editing or adjusting ) 5. Inconsistent messages across multiple separate posts (eg. The thermometer campaign that changed the individual sharing the message ) 6. Provides a solution 7. Selling something _ Would you add anything? —— This disinformation can’t be fought with just me. You are needed! Be critical. Be a skeptic. Don’t share content if you have no time to background check it. _ Share this post or save it! (After you’ve done a background check of course 😉 )

⁣𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧, 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐬 ☀⠀ ⠀ This fall I will be taking the first medical surgical and pharmacology courses of a two-semester sequence, so today I am sharing with you all the textbooks that I will be using for my next 2 semesters in nursing school. ⠀ ⠀ 𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐬⠀ Brunner & Suddarth’s Textbook of Medical-Surgical Nursing (Volume 1 and 2 )⠀ Abram’s Clinical Drug Therapy with Rationales for Nursing Practice⠀ ⠀ —————⠀ ⠀ 𝐎𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬⠀ ⠀ 𝐍𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐲 𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐲!⠀ In addition to purchasing the required textbooks, I got the med-surg and pharm made incredibly easy books. These are designed to break down challenging clinical concepts and present them in an engaging style that is easy to understand making the learning process interesting and effective. All content is presented in an easy-to-read format with bullet points highlighting important ideas, making difficult and confusing concepts incredibly easy! ⠀ ⠀ 𝐌𝐞𝐝-𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐠 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤⠀ If you’re like me and you understand the content but have a hard time passing your nursing exams and answering NCLEX style questions correctly, this one’s made for us! This book focuses on critical thinking and is made to improve your test taking skills. When practicing test questions, you will find test-taking hints and an explanation for the correct answer as well as the incorrect distracters. I am hoping that this book will help me improve my test taking skills because that is what I struggle with the most. It doesn’t matter how much I study or how well I understand the content, if I’m not able to apply it to test questions then there is no point! My biggest advice to new nursing students is to figure out how you learn/study best and stick to it! I had to learn this one the hard way. I saw other people studying in ways that seemed way more time efficient and decided to give those methods a try. That bit me in the butt big time. Thankfully, I was able to go back and redo everything “my” way but if I would have just stuck to the way I know I learn best, I would have saved myself a ton of stress. Lesson learned! So I want to know! What’s your preferred study method? I do a little bit of everything but flash cards are definitely my method of choice! I also really like listening to lectures and YouTube videos to reinforce my learning. Happy studying, friends! 👩🏼‍⚕️💉❤️💊📚📝🤯🤓👏🏻💗 • • • • • • • #nursingschool #nursingschoollife #nursingstudent #nursingstudents #nursingstudentlife #studentnurse #studentnurselife #nursingschooltips #nursingschoolmotivation #nursesarahinthemaking #nurseintraining #nurseinthemaking #nursingmajor #bsn #momsincollege #momsinnursingschool #studytips #collegetips #collegesuccess #nursingschooladvice #wgu #wgunightowl #wgunursing #wgunursingstudent #wgunursesrock #wguprelicensurenursing

fun fact: waiting for my authorization to test (att ) for the nclex is lasting longer than kim kardashian’s marriage with kris humphries (72 days ) #yikes ⁣ for some transparency, post-grad life is okay and hasn’t been super glamorous for me. i still don’t have a test date for my nclex yet because the california board of nursing hasn’t approved my application, along with my classmates... the wait is getting pretty discouraging considering we graduated in may and it’s practically august. i’ve been studying almost everyday for 2 months because i feel bad when i don’t study and i wasn’t expecting to wait this long (i take breaks too friends!!! ). my routine: still studying, applying to jobs, and waiting to hear back from places.⁣ ⁣ trying my best to stay positive and hope for the best because that’s really all I can do because so much is out of my control. i’m so happy to see my irl and ig friends thriving, getting licensed, getting job interviews, and getting new grad positions in the past few months—you guys are so inspirational and give me so much hope! i love seeing everyone getting their dream jobs and achieving their goals!!! hoping to catch up soon 😙🥰
