SHOCK!⚡️⁣ ⁣ I have one experience of dealing with shock. When I was working at a shop, an elderly lady slipped and fell on a slippery grate. Her ankle was very clearly deformed and half way up her shin to her foot had gone white and cold to touch. It was raining and she was freezing. Luckily I had my medical bag in my car and was able to treat her the best I could until the paramedics arrived. I wrapped her up in foil blankets, covered her with umbrellas and applied ice to the ankle. Unfortunately, the elderly lady quickly went into shock - it was very clear to see. She matched the colour of the background of this picture, had a rapid heart beat and was extremely confused. ⁣ ⁣ Has anyone got any experiences dealing with shock? 🥰⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #nursingschool #nursingstudent #studentnurse #studentnurselife #studentnurses #studentnurseproblems #studentnurseuk #nursing #medicalstudent #likeforlikes #likeforfollow #likeforlikeback #followforfollowback #follow #follow4followback #followme #studynotes #studynote #studying #revision #university #mastersdegree #mastersdegree 🎓 #science #nursesofinstagram #nurse #nursingschoolproblems #shock #medicine #medical

——————————— 🌿🍃 MINDFULNESS & MELANIN 🍃🌿 •Struggling to sleep at the moment 😫 It’s a mixture of this heat and feeling slightly anxious with a lot playing on my mind. My student loan has been processed but I haven’t heard back from LSF and my ucas hasn’t been updated as of yet. I know this stuff will get sorted, but as the start date for uni edges closer, my anxiety gets a little worse. •I’m not the most academic person and worrying if I will manage with the assignments or referencing etc. I’m lucky to have found a friend from my course already and she feels the same, so hopefully we can lean on each other 🥰 •My Typo satin sleepmask is a godsend for helping me sleep, as is this twilight spray from lush. A few sprays on my pillow and I feel instantly zen. Just got to sort a fan for the room and hopefully my sleep will improve!! 👌🏻 #lush #manchester #typo #sleep #restandrelaxation #quote #slogan #studentnurse #studentnursejourney #studentnurseuk #adultnursing #nursing #studentnurseproblems #nursingstudent #nursingstudentstruggles #nursingstudentsofinstagram #nursing2020 #nurseinprogress #nurseinspiration #nurseintraining #nhs #nhscareers #blogger #bloggeruk #nurseblogger #nurseblog #studentnurselife #nurselife #studygram

If you live in a competitive area for new grads then you have to be strategic about seeking opportunities while in nursing school. Don’t wait until you graduate to start planning for your career. Start now, so that you can begin building a narrative that will set you apart from other applicants. The goal is to be in a position where you can get hired into your preferred specialty as quickly as possible once you graduate.

Vintage medicine has a big place in my heart. When I find a used bookshop I immediately go and find the health section. That is where two of the books in this photo. Sometimes I find hand made products that give off the vibe I am looking for. This bag is just that! I am in love with it. Some days I just look at because how beautiful it is. . Medical just makes my heart happy and I am so excited to get back into studying this week for my upcoming school year. . . . . #vintage #nursingschool #cherryames #studentnurseproblems #nursingschool2020 #studentnurse #medicalgeek #vintagemedicine

Brought a few folders, and some bits for September📂Even though I have enough folders I always love to ‘start fresh’ with stationary🗂🖍 I love to be organised with my studies and it is 🔑 Organisation means an organised, clear mind🧠 I like to have separate folders for each year, and I like to divide each module. I also like to have a separate folder for all A&P🦴 Still got more bits and bobs to buy...

I am a recovering people pleaser and sometimes I feel guilty about it 🙋🏼‍♀️⁣ ⁣ I was always that person who couldn’t say no to extra CNA shifts because I felt like I owed it other people to work MORE- to my coworkers so  they wouldn’t be short staffed, to my management so they could be less stressed, to my patients because they needed to be taken care of.. WHEN WAS  I SUPPOSED TO TAKE CARE OF ME?!⁣ ⁣ I would always send a picture of my outfits before a night out with my girlfriends to my at the time boyfriend and say “is it okay to wear this?” EXCUSE ME WHAT?!⁣ ⁣ I found myself saying yes to things in college that I really didn’t even care or want to do but because other people wanted to and then if/when I did say no I would feel like I had to justify why I needed to say no⁣ ⁣ Here is the thing about being a people pleaser-- you will always put others' needs before your own. You will give and give your time and energy until you realize you have none left. ⁣ Then you take a step back and look at yourself, like how did I get here? How am I SO TIRED ALL OF THE TIME? How do I NEVER have time to do the things that I want to do? IS THIS REALLY IT?! ^my actual thoughts towards the end of nursing school when I tired of picking up CNA shifts,  busting my butt in school and finishing my preceptor hours. ⁣ ⁣ It was in that moment I decided that as a new grad I would no longer pick up OT hours if it didn’t feel right for me⁣ I would not stretch myself thin and neglect to take care of ME ⁣ I would not ask others for the approval of the things that I wanted to wear/do/say ⁣ & I was no longer going to justify me saying NO to things that weren’t a HELL YES⁣ ⁣ Setting BOUNDARIES is important when it comes to PROTECTING YOUR ENERGY. In order to give you have to TAKE-⁣ 🥂time for you⁣ 🥂 days off work⁣ 🥂a break from social media⁣ 🥂your PTO hours to go on vaca ⁣ ⁣You DON’T have to justify why you can’t make an event or pick up the extra shifts, you owe nobody an explanation for doing the things that feel good for you and align with your goals/priorities .⁣ BUILDING CONFIDENCE and SETTING PRIORITIES is all apart of my Building the Best You workshop 👉🏼 link in bio 🥂

👩🏽‍⚕️2nd 12 hour clinical rotation today..here since 5am..looking at my face you may be fooled in believing I wasn’t tired 🥴🥴..... . . 🩸Your patients should never feel your emotions...does not matter how tired, upset, or angry you are, ALWAYS SHOW THE BEST OF YOU! . . 😀Ultimately every job you have is a business, and if customer service is horrible people won’t come back. . . 📍This applies to hospitals as well...how would you feel if after working so hard in nursing school, or in any other program, you start working and customers stop showing up due to your attitude? 📍Nursing school is not about “Survival.” You need to change your mentality. I see this in a lot of groups, and posts made on social media. . . 👁Ask yourself, would you want to be taken care of someone that studied for a test, or someone that focused on learning and understood that nursing is a lifelong learning experience? . . 👩🏽‍⚕️Dr. David . . #nurseeducator #nursingstudents #studentnurses #studentnurselife #studentnurseproblems #nclexrn #nclexpn #blacknursesrock #blacknursemagic #nursesrock #clinicalnurseleader #educator #nclexpass #NCLEXcoach #nclexreview #failednclex #blackownedbusiness #nursingschool #nursingstudentproblems #nursingstudentprobs #besmart #study #lifelonglearning

⭐ MOTIVATION ⭐ Motivation is really a key driving force especially to help your mental state. Whilst on my current holiday i decided i wanted to push myself to do something alone... So i climbed a mountain! 😂 Half way up in 30 degree heat i nearly gave up but i pushed myself and the absloute buzz i got when i reached the top is enough to make me want to do it again and again! I want to carry this attitude into university and placements, some times it will get hard but the end goal is worth it! Motivate yourself to do something and experince that feeling of accomplishment! #studentnurses #studentnursesofinstagram #student #studentnurseproblems #studentnursestudytips #studentnurseblogger #mentalhealth #mentalhealthnurse #mentalhealthmatters #motivation #nurse #UCLAN

——————————— 🌿🍃 YOU GOT THIS 🍃🌿 •Another 16,000 steps hit today as I try to get healthy but most of these were made while I was shopping to be honest. Picked up some holiday bargains in the sale and this mini haul for uni. •Had a gander in paperchase as they had 3for2 on some stationary (always a winner ) got this fluorescent pink memo pad, fluffy pen and the postcard for my desk area to keep me motivated! •Victoria secret for this spray for everyday uni wear and placement bag. It’s the most delicious sweet smell! •Then went into the works, but didn’t really see anything I liked except this pad. Don’t know why I keep buying pads 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣 Suppose it makes me feel like I’m getting prepared! 🤔 #shopping #manchester #success #stationary #pink #quote #slogan #studentnurse #studentnursejourney #studentnurseuk #adultnursing #nursing #studentnurseproblems #nursingstudent #nursingstudentstruggles #nursingstudentsofinstagram #nursing2020 #nurseinprogress #nurseinspiration #nurseintraining #nhs #nhscareers #blogger #bloggeruk #nurseblogger #nurseblog #studentnurselife #nurselife #studygram

Dear nursing students, Just because you’re in nursing school doesn’t mean that you should have no time for yourself. Yes, it’s hard, and overwhelming and there is always something that is due and don’t forget the 15-page care plan that’s due tonight at midnight. BUT, your physical and mental health is just as important. We tell our patients every day how important it is to take care of themselves, how they need to eat better and move their bodies. Yet we don’t practice what we preach. I know you have to study and do homework but you NEED to make the time for yourself, for your own sanity. You have to be the best you in order to be the best student, the best nurse, and the best person you can be. So screw what everyone told you about not having enough time in nursing school to focus on you and MAKE the time to focus on you. It will be worth it. Promise. & You don’t have to do it alone girl! (Link is in my bio if you wanna crush it together )

I'll be honest. I did not take the COVID-19 outbreak seriously at first. 🤦🏼‍♀️ It wasn't until I saw the world around me literally shut down--loss of jobs/income, schools closed, lines down the block to get into supermarkets, toilet paper/paper towels/hand sanitizer off the shelves with a limit per person, PPE shortage, and no people in sight in what were the busiest parts of New York City. And I'll be honest again--I have never been more scared to return to work as a nurse, to be on the frontlines for this new virus. I'm not even scared for myself. I'm scared of bringing it back home to my family--my parents, grandparents. But I know my role is necessary. We, nurses, are needed now more than ever to help fight against this pandemic. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Shout out to not only healthcare workers but ALL essential personnel (ex. sanitary, USPS ) that still need to report to work and cannot afford to work from home. 🖤Thank you for all that you do. ⁣👏🏻⁣ ⁣⁣ And you know what? Even if you're not essential personnel, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲 𝐚 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐭𝐨𝐨.⁣ 👌🏻⁣ ⁣⁣ What you can do to help:⁣⁣ - Don't panic. Educate yourself appropriately through @cdc and @who . Fact-check any sources of information. Be aware of what's going on in the news but also don't discount the good news. ⁣It’s easy to fear something that you know nothing about. ⁣ - Wash your hands for at least 20-30 sec 🧼⁣ - Practice social distancing to help #flattenthecurve ⁣⁣ to limit risk of exposure to others even if it is an inconvenience ⁣ - Don't be greedy and stop fear-buying toilet paper 🧻 , PPE (ex. masks ) 😷 and other necessities ⁣⁣ ⁣ Even if you aren't on the front lines, your involvement in this pandemic still matters! We can all take an active part in this. We will make it out of this...together.

and here you’ll see several things that bring me joy and one that makes me want to break out in a sweat just lookin’ at it 😅 in all seriousness, while I do love a good book, planner, Starbucks, and the best pens, I’m feeling ready to take on this next semester with Med Surg & Mental Health. I’m still nervous as H E L L, but I’m feeling nerdy and ready to dump more into my brain. • This morning I got to meet with one of my Nursing School Fairy Godmothers, @ashwillingham , who helped talk me through this next semester and I am forever grateful for her help since the start of school. It goes to show that the nursing community is da bomb & never stops caring/helping others. I might still want to pull my hair throughout this next semester, but at least I’ll be surrounded by some of the best humans that I get to call my friends. 🤍 • Hit me with any of your own advice, tips, tricks, and everything in between on how to survive Med Surg & Mental Health! (aside from crying and praying, of course 😂 )

I’m nearing the end of my orientation and I’m feeling the same nerves that I had when I was coming off orientation as a brand new nurse. You’re never really ready. If you’re in my shoes, just remind yourself that you’re going to feel weird for awhile and that it’s normal. Just learn who your go to people are and never be afraid to contact your charge nurse if you have questions. ⠀ ⠀ 5/365
