Spent some days in the country researching, playing, listening and being. My tour took in empty grandstands, populated cemeteries, driving rain and a cosy fire warm cottage. Freer times were last week.

I played some cello and piano on this lovely album just out! Andrew and I met at a residency workshop in the French Pyrenees, such a lovely human. A beautiful record, check it. Repost @tuttscorp . ・・・ Hello! I’m so excited that my new album Alexandra is out today. Delighted to be able to share it with everyone. There’s so much I want to talk about who and what made the album what it was, but I want to give everyone the time they deserve so for now it is a new album day post! Hooray!

Super excited to be on this compilation with a song from our new album out later this year on US label Lost Tribe Sound! The album features all recorded instruments (around 35 ) played by Claire and myself into a home orchestra suite of songs which has been described as “genre defying” by website A Closer Listen. You can hear the track “From a Rooftop” on the Lost Tribe Sound bandcamp or there’s a sneaky one on YouTube. Release is an appropriate term for getting music out there, It feels good to explain oneself in this way and creates new contexts, opportunities and the refilling of the well. Financial remuneration may be more elusive these days but it was never much of a reality or incentive.

I knew for sure I was back in the country recording in halls when a giant kangaroo bounded past my window. Lovely people, lovely music, lovely sound, home made food what’s not to love!

Releasing this record today. You can find it on Bandcamp Spotify etc. Pipe organ and birds recorded in a desert church which stands alone in open fields. Microphones outside bringing the birds into the church so we could discuss the stillness and isolation and it’s encouragement towards singing out. Full video and others of the time there on my Vimeo page link in bio. #pipeorgan #birdsong #sitespecificmusic #soundart #fieldrecording #tonydupé #desertmusic #melbournemusicweek

I dreamt this guy was trying to kill me last night. He’s not of course but I listened his new album today and it’s killer! I am biased because I produced it and Claire and I did arrangements. It’s the most ambitious and longest production project I have ever done and I think it reflects all that I value in that world. At the centre of that is a passionate communicative artist and around him are a community of musicians and singers who value character and emotion. Excitingly you can hear it all along with the room it happened in and some abstractions afterward. Anyway give it a go it’s by Piers Twomey and it’s called “it’s complicated” #newaustralianmusic #musicproduction #singersongwriter #tonydupé #creativeprojects

My Desert Church project is installed in this exhibition in Bradford U.K. I will be releasing it later this year. It was recorded near Rainbow in Western Victoria in a church miles from person made sound with the vast external soundscape (bird life ) beamed into the church while I played along on the pipe organ. Good times!

Ragnar Kjartansson: The Visitors at the ICA Boston. 9 speaker/screen work made in a country mansion seems to me a love letter to loss, love and community seen through sumptuous age old rooms of life. How appropriate that I am here to talk about how place is sensed in music and how potent that can be. #arp19 #icelandicmusic #musicproduction #ragnarkjartansson
